Wine, Passion, Opera! Livermore Valley Opera Host’s Free Opera Sing-along Jan. 13

LIVERMORE, CA – Choral singers everywhere are invited to attend Livermore Valley Opera’s first-ever opera sing-along, for an evening of wine, passion and opera.  Details are as follows:

Saturday, January 13, 4:00 to 6:30 pm
Bothwell Arts Center
2466 8th Street
Admission is free

This evening of wine and song is the first of its kind for Livermore Valley Opera’s community outreach program and promises to offer singers the chance to sing selections from some of the world’s most beloved operas, directed by Maestri Ofer dal Lal and Bruce Olstad, LVO Chorus Master. The opera sing-along was the idea of Revital Shmerling, director of LVO’s community outreach and educational programs for youth in schools, as a way to bring singers together who love opera.

“This free event is something I have wanted to do for a long time,” says Shmerling. “I know there are many singers in our community who have a passion for opera and would love a chance to sing the pieces selected for the event, just for fun. Singers will enjoy wines and we will rehearse the selected music and then sing it all together.”

The program includes Votre Toast (Toreador Song) from Carmen by Bizet, Tarantella from La Forza del Destino by Verdi, Va Pensiero (Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves) from Nabucco by Verdi, and Fervono Amori e Danze from LVO’s March 2018 opera production of Un Ballo in Maschera by Verdi, at the Bankhead Theater.

Additionally, baritone Ben Brady, who will sing the role of “Silvano” in Un Ballo in Maschera, will join the event to perform the solo part in Votre Toast.

Preparation is not required for any of the chorus selections and sheet music will be provided.

About LVO’s Community and School Outreach program
