A premier LifeScience event is all set to take place at Wente Vineyards in Livermore. Join biotechnology leaders from around the Bay Area for the Livermore LifeScience Conference 2004. At the conference you will have the opportunity to meet and hear from representatives from: the TriValley Technology Enterprise Center, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, SRI International, Eksigent Technologies, BioGenex Laboratories, ZAP Ventures, Asset Management Company, BioAsia Investments and Burrill & Company.

Agenda
The event will feature a comprehensive agenda with speakers from a number of different lifescience areas. The day will conclude with an elegant wine reception featuring local vintners.

9:10 am – 9: 50 am - Elbert Branscomb – (topic to be announced)   Dr. Branscomb is the Associate Director for Biology and Biotechnology Research) at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and former director of the Joint Genome Institute in Walnut Creek.

9:50 am – 10:30 am - Alan Christian - "A new method of gene silencing that offers significant possibilities in the clinical world"    Dr. Christian is a Biodefense Group Leader at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

10:30 am - 10:45 am - Break

10:45 am - 11:25 am - Roger Werne - "What’s Needed From the Private Sector to Help Fight Bioterrorism"   Dr. Werne is the Chief Engineer for the Nonproliferation, Arms Control and International Security Directorate (NAI) at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

11:25 am – 11:55 am - Glenn Rice - "New Models for Drug Translation"   Dr. Rice is the Vice President, Biosciences Division, for SRI International.

11:55 am – 12:55 am - Lunch

1 pm – 1:40 pm - G. Steven Burrill - "Biotech: State of the Industry"   Steven Burrill is the CEO of Burrill & Company, an investment bank headquartered in San Francisco.

1:40 pm - 2:20 pm - Bio - CEO panel

2:20 pm - 3:00 pm - Bio - Venture Capital panel

3:10 pm - 5 pm - Livermore Valley Wine Reception and Mini-Trade show

Event Details
The Livermore LifeScience Conference 2004 will take place April 13th at Wente Vineyards in Livermore, California. The event is sponsored by the City of Livermore, The TriValley Business Council, Gray Cary, McNichols Randick O’Dea & Tooliatos, Bay Area BioScience Center, UC-Davis Center for Biophotonics Science and Technology, The TriValley Technology Enterprise Center (TTEC), and the Pacific Incubation Network.
