2006 ALAMEDA COUNTY FAIR
The 2006 Alameda County Fair will run from June 23rd through July 9th. This year's theme is Jump Start Your Summer.
Exhibits and Activities
There's something for everyone at the Fair. On display at the 2006 Fair will be an array of original works, from paintings and photographs to competitive garden and flower exhibits. The Fair will also host the fourth annual Cooking Academy, showcasing a wide variety of cooking-related entertainment and instruction every day. For the more adventurous, there is live horse racing and the carnival midway with rides, rollercoasters, slides, funhouses and games. Along with all the activities, there will be a lot of food to choose from with everything from exotic entrees to barbecue to corn dogs and funnel cakes. The Beer & Wine Garden will treat guests to a sampling of the Bay Area’s award-winning wines and micro brews.
The 2006 Fair Concert Series will be hotter than ever, fueling audiences with performances by Smash Mouth on July 7th, Steven Curtis Chapman on June 29th, KC & The Sunshine Band on July 3rd, Bowling For Soup on June 26th, Miranda Lambert on July 9th, and many others each night. Opening night will feature Tracy Lawrence followed by a spectacular fireworks display. The Red White & Blues Festival will run from 10am to 6pm on July 4th, and comedian Mark Curry will make his Fair appearance on June 30th. There will be more concert announcements forthcoming, as well as four additional stages jam packed with community talent, including singers, dancers, comedians, and novelty acts.
Special Admission Days
There will be many special admission days at the 2006 Fair, including $3 Wacky Wednesday on July 5th, Kids Free Fridays, Seniors Free Wednesdays on June 20th and July 5th, and Monday Madness with free admission before 3pm on June 26th. There will be a special opening weekend salute to the men and women of the United States military and the Fair will be providing free admission for military personnel and one guest with a valid ID.
