Join the Tri-Valley Herald and San Joaquin Herald for their 2009 Book Buck$ Family Reading Program. This award-winning family newspaper literacy program gets kids into a daily reading habit while rewarding them with Book Buck$ at the end of the week.

Book Buck$ News Cruise
From February 23-27, 2009 reading will pay off for children participating in the 2009 Book Buck$ NewsCruise program. This year, more than 11,000 local students, siblings and their parents will be on board to explore The News World. The unique itinerary for this voyage includes exotic newspaper ports of call such as Hometown Harbor, Sporta, Cape Classified, Comics Cove, and  Showbiz Bay. Each evening, students will read through The Herald with their family and complete assignments to earn their Book Buck$. At the end of the week, all young participants will be rewarded with Book Buck$ they can spend thanks to the generosity of local merchants and benefactors.

There are two ways Hacienda affiliates can participate in this award-winning program. Sponsorships are welcome to help bring the program to local schools or you can donate a prize for the participants to "buy" with their buck$. A number of recognition opportunities are available to event supporters.
