Spring Transportation Fair

Whether you take transit or help coordinate transportation alternatives for your employees, you will find everything you need to know about commute alternatives at the 2002 Spring Transportation Fair. Hacienda and the City of Pleasanton extend an open invitation to businesses and residents to attend this important event.

2002 Spring Transportation Fair
The 2002 Spring Transportation Fair is taking place on April 18, 2002 at the Four Points Sheraton located at 5115 Hopyard Road. The fair has two parts. The first half of the fair, from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm, has been specifically designed for Employee Transportation Coordinators or other company representatives who either facilitate a company’s transportation program or who work with employees on benefits including transportation incentives. Fair vendors will be available to answer questions and work with representatives on creating program options for their business. The second half of the fair, from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm, is for employees. Here, employees attending the fair can connect with important resources that can aid in getting them to and from work using alternatives that can save time and money.

Commute Resources at the Fair
An incredible array of resources await event participants at the fair. Just look at what you can find:

10:30 a.m. - Noon Transportation coordinators from any company will have the opportunity to talk directly with transit vendors. With over 30 different transit and transportation vendors represented, coordinators have a great opportunity to receive specific information which they can use to effectively promote their company's transportation programs and encourage employees to use commute alternatives.

Noon - 1:30 p.m. Transportation coordinators, as well as individual employees, are invited to attend the information fair. Coordinators and employees can explore and discover the advantages of alternative transportation. Through the different transit and transportation vendors, attendees can learn about bus and rail service from neighboring counties including commuter express services and local bus service. Representatives will also be on hand to discuss vanpool and carpool rider and driver benefits and subsidies. WageWorks and Commuter Choice programs where employees are given pre-tax transportation subsidies will also be highlighted. Other vendors will have information on air quality programs, Pleasanton's Commendable Commutes program, hiking and biking, bridge toll discounts, guaranteed ride home, congestion relief, county program benefits, and more.

Commendable Commutes Workshop
The fair will be preceded by a special workshop for participants in Pleasanton's Commendable Commutes program. Commendable Commutes is a voluntary trip reduction program that gives employers and the business community tools to provide commute alternative information to employees which in turn reduces traffic congestion. Commendable Commutes employers receive help with the design, creation, implementation and marketing of a commute alternatives program at their company. Commendable Commutes employers also receive a number of special commute benefits for their employees through their participation in the program as well as on-site commute workshops. Interested employers are encouraged to drop by the information fair to learn more about this valuable program. Companies currently enrolled in Commendable Commutes are encouraged to send transportation coordinators to the workshop from 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. The focus of the workshop will be on helping companies and their employees with the upcoming City of Pleasanton Employee Transportation Survey; a key component to designing and developing a customized commuter profile.
