Pleasanton Art League has been Promoting the Arts for Over 30 Years

Fine artists in the Tri-Valley have long been thankful for the presence of the Pleasanton Art League. The group, founded in 1969, encourages the creative talents of its members as well as appreciation of the arts by the general public.

The organization is just wrapping up its 33rd Anniversary Fine Art Show. The show features works from over 20 members in media ranging from oils, pastels, acrylics and watercolors to photos and pottery. The show is on exhibit until Friday, June 21, at the Bank of America, 337 Main Street.

There are other activities coming up as well. The group holds monthly meetings which features art demonstrations as well as specialized workshops in varying media by professional instructors from around the country. This month's meeting will be held on June 24 at 7:30 at the Cultural Arts Building, 4477 Black Avenue, and will feature a watercolor demonstration by Lian Qhan Zhen. Zhen will also teach a series of watercolor workshops this summer, beginning on June 29, on topics ranging from the Grand Canyon to water lilies, small creatures, and landscapes with waterfalls.

Of particular interest to Hacienda businesses may be the league's Public Art Circuit program, which offers artwork for businesses to display free of charge.
