2003 City of Pleasanton Corporate Games
To succeed in business, companies need to be competitive. However, many people also like to make use of their competitive nature in their leisure activities-especially sports. If you have athletes among the employees of your company, the City of Pleasanton is hosting an event that will let them pit their athletic skills against those who work at other companies while enjoying a little friendly competition and maybe even making a few new friends.
The City of Pleasanton is hosting its first annual Corporate Games for local businesses and agencies within the City of Pleasanton to help familiarize local companies with community activities provided by the Parks and Community Services Department, and to enhance the relationship between local organizations and the City of Pleasanton. The Parks and Community Services Department will manage and organize activities that include tennis, aquatics, coed softball, three on three basketball, coed sand volleyball, soccer, golf, badminton, and a trivia contest. The games will take place April 28 through May 8, 2003 (Monday - Thursday only) and all events will begin at 5:00 p.m.
2003 City of Pleasanton Corporate Games will be open to the first sixteen teams to sign up. Teams are not required to compete in every event, but they are encouraged to participate in as many as possible. The more events a team participates in, the better its chances of winning. Points will be awarded for winning individual events and games and the team with the most overall points after all events will be declared the winner. The deadline for registration is March 28, 2003 at 4:00 p.m. or after sixteen teams register, whichever comes first. All teams must submit a registration fee of $700 with their application and team roster. The registration fee covers all events for each team and includes a T-shirt to be used as a team uniform.
We’ll be giving out prizes for each event,” says Dan Villasenor, recreation supervisor for the City of Pleasanton Parks and Recreation Department. “Members of the overall winning team will each receive an award and the team as a whole will be receiving a trophy commemorating their victory in the games.” The 2003 city of Pleasanton Corporate Games will take place at Tennis & Community Park, Dolores Bengtson Aquatic Center, Sports Park -Softball Complex, Harvest Park Middle School, Amador Valley Community Park, Pleasanton Fairways Golf Course, and Thomas Hart Middle School. Each team must carry a minimum of 12 individuals and a maximum of 30 and most events require equal male/female participation.
