- The U.S. Patent Office has awarded two new wireless networking patents to Hacienda’s Trapeze Networks, further advancing the company’s intellectual property assets in wireless network security and role-based access control.
“These recent inventions make wireless networks more secure and easier to configure and deploy,” says Ahmet Tuncay, Trapeze Networks’ chief technology officer. “Trapeze Networks’ position as an innovator is strengthened in important ways with the award of these two patents.”
- AlarmPoint Systems, creators of an industry-leading alert management platform, has unveiled a line of mobile infrastructure management products which will allow BlackBerry, iPhone, Android, and Treo users to access real-time data on IT system health and status and to access, create, approve and modify important event information.
“Effective mobile solutions start with an organization’s ability to manage alerts, deliver actionable information and provide mobile application access across each discipline within an IT organization,” says Troy McAlpin, CEO. “One telecommunications customer delivered a 75 percent reduction in call center staffing by automating field force access to critical systems through mobile infrastructure management, a savings of over $3 million per year.”
The company’s new mobile software supports products from BMC Software, HP Software, and IBM.
- Hacienda’s Visioneer Corporation, an authorized Xerox trademark licensee, has launched the Xerox DocuMate 742, a high quality production sheetfed scanner that scans documents at 50 ppm (simplex) and 100 ipm (duplex) and includes a 100-page capacity automatic document feeder. It has the ability to scan a wide range of mixed document sizes (up to 11 by 17 inches) and supports long document scanning up to 38 inches, making it an effective way to index documents such as medical forms or real estate contracts. “The DocuMate 742 is well-equipped for use in a wide range of business applications, even in high-speed, volume-oriented environments,” says John Capurso, vice president of marketing for Visioneer.
- FrontRange Solutions, a Hacienda-based software and services company, has launched an online ‘SAM Analyzer’ to help firms self-assess their current approach to software asset management (SAM). The simple ten question test examines the organization’s approach to critical software management factors such as having a complete audit, centralized procurement and how applications are deployed. The test is available at www.frontrange.com/analyzer.“There are…significant cost savings to be made from better SAM practices,” says Matt Fisher, director of marketing at FrontRange. “For example, our own research shows that most organizations have unused software languishing on the network. Better visibility of these assets would enable firms to harvest these and reallocate licenses, rather than purchasing new software.”
