IQMS has been offering manufacturing software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software systems for repetitive, process, and discrete manufacturing industries since 1989. In May the company opened a new Internet of Things (IoT) and automation product development office at Hacienda.

According to IQMS, the new 30-person office “provides an agile environment for developing smart manufacturing systems that apply the Internet of Things and other enabling technologies to lean and Industry 4.0 manufacturing principles.” The new office was the natural outgrowth of the company’s expansion of the scope of its ERP system, which provides manufacturers with the technology to establish world-class operations that optimize automation, quality assurance, and supply chain excellence.

Trevor Diehl, the vice-president of MES (manufacturing execution system) production development at the company, heads the new Pleasanton office. Before the move to Pleasanton, Diehl played a strategic role in automation efforts at the company’s headquarters in Paso Robles, California.

“Our customers compete worldwide on the ability to maximize their manufacturing productivity, efficiency, and quality,” says Diehl. “Our new Pleasanton office expands IQMS’s ability to help manufacturers automate their production operations in order to meet these goals.”

IQMS ECO Gary Nemmers agrees that Pleasanton is a great place to be. “We are seeing a resurgence of manufacturing in North America based on the growing ability of companies here to deliver high quality products, reliably and cost-effectively,” says Nemmers. “Our new Pleasanton office furthers our commitment to driving new innovations in smart manufacturing that enhance our customers’ ability to compete in the global market.”

The Pleasanton area has developed into a magnet for ERP companies. Many of the industry’s largest firms have established headquarters or opened regional offices in or near the city. By locating its new IoT and automation product development office in Pleasanton, IQMS says it is able to tap into a local workforce with strong expertise in ERP technologies and best practices.

“The formula for success in manufacturing today is based on five factors: quality, high service levels, flexible scheduling, automation, and proximity to major end user markets,” says Dan Radunz, IQMS CTO. “At the same time, the principles of smart manufacturing and Industry 4.0 used to deliver on these requirements are built on a backbone of IoT, cloud, big data, analytics, automation, and machine integration technologies. The Pleasanton location gives us access to the engineering talent we need to capitalize on those technologies for the benefit of our customers.”

According to the company, IQMS solutions uniquely combine ERP and MES functionality to give manufacturers a comprehensive end-to-end suite for running their business, backed by the real-time performance and scalability that companies demand. Developed specifically for mid-market repetitive, discrete, and batch process manufacturers, IQMS solutions provide robust capabilities for addressing strict customer and regulatory certification and compliance.

How is this possible? By delivering traditional ERP functionality for accounting, sales orders, material requirements, inventory, and purchasing along with extended native features for CRM, human resources, production scheduling, shop floor control, warehouse, and quality modules.
