Tri-Valley Rotary Clubs Promote Friendship and Community Service 

Meeting and exchanging ideas with one’s peers can be a valuable and rewarding experience. Within your local business community, sharing the friendship, advice, and common experiences of others can be especially helpful-especially when it also benefits the community at large. That’s the spirit behind Rotary clubs. Rotary International is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. In more than 160 countries worldwide, approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 30,000 Rotary clubs. Locally, members of the community have that option of participating in any one of six Rotary clubs, with even more in the surrounding locales.

“Rotary basically exists for a lot of reasons,” says Rob Anglin, member of the Livermore Rotary club, founded in 1947, and one of the founders of the Tri-Valley Rotary club. “It helps individual professional people or people who own their own businesses to make friends and network with a cross section of people that’s pretty broad and diverse. We also work very hard to make the community a better place.”

Rotary clubs as a whole are involved in community service that ranges from vocational orientation for young people and others, to international service where they work to make the world a better place in distant communities. Locally, projects include a music scholarship fund, a career day for local youth, a program raising funds to eradicate polio, and other efforts.

The best way to become a part of Rotary is to attend a meeting, and in the immediate vicinity of Hacienda, you can attend meetings at a variety of locations and times. The Dublin Rotary club meets 12:15 pm Tuesdays at the Dublin Park Hotel, 6680 Regional Street. The Livermore Rotary club meets 12:00 pm Wednesdays at the DoubleTree Inn in Livermore. The Livermore Valley Rotary club meets 7:00 am Tuesdays at Beebe's Sports Bar & Grill, 915 Club House Dr. The Pleasanton Rotary club meets 12:15 pm Thursdays at the Pleasanton Hotel 855 Main Street. The Pleasanton North Rotary club meets 12:15 pm Fridays at the Hilton at the Club 7050 Johnson Dr. And finally, the Tri-Valley Rotary club meets 7:00 pm Thursdays at the Girasole Restaurant, 3170 Santa Rita Rd. The Rotary motto is “Service Above Self,” which just about says it all.
