Data Return, a company with more than six years of experience in managing complex, transaction-intensive computer applications, is in the process of re-establishing itself at its 59,449 square foot location at 5667 Gibraltar Drive. The company’s services range from infrastructure management to comprehensive managed application services on leading platforms.

The new Data Return arose from Saratoga Partners’ acquisition of Divine, Inc.'s managed services unit as part of Divine’s bankruptcy auction. Divine's managed services unit was built through the acquisition of Data Return, Intira, and Host One. A number of employees of the original Data Return, including CEO Sunny Vanderbeck, now find themselves with their old company name back on their business cards.

Data Return operates and maintains the network servers and data centers that are required for companies with mission-critical Internet applications or off-site corporate databases to make sure that they always run and are always available and functioning properly. The company can maintain the operating system, hardware, and all the applications that are involved in keeping a web enterprise or data center up and running. 500 companies around the world including Hewlett Packard, Applied Materials, California State Auto Association, Match.com, and Longs Drugs rely on Data Return's experience, proven capabilities, and financial stability to manage their mission critical business infrastructure on the Windows, Solaris, and enterprise Linux platforms. Within Hacienda, Data Return provides services for C-COR and Zantaz.

“What make us different from others in the hosting industry is our combination of deep technical expertise and financial stability,” says Michael Bergman, Data Return’s sales manager for Northern California. “We have  proven technical expertise on Microsoft, Sun and Oracle technologies and have truly mastered the process, technology, and capabilities required to manage transaction-intensive online applications. Our strong financial position ensures that customers don’t have to worry about whether their application will still be online tomorrow.” For companies like Match.com and others whose primary source of revenue is their web enterprise, it’s absolutely essential that their web site does not go down.

Data Return has a proven track record of managing applications on the Microsoft platform. A Microsoft Certified Gold Partner, Data Return was the inaugural winner of the Microsoft Global Service Provider Award for Hosting in 2000, and received the Application Infrastructure award in 2002. The company was also one of the first service providers to achieve Compaq Signature Certified provider status.

In addition to managing web applications for companies like H&R Block, Data Return’s service allows customers to leverage the company’s technical knowledge and resources, speeding time-to-market on new technologies like Windows Server 2003 while reducing the risk of rapid adoption. “This technology changes very quickly,” Bergman says. “It’s very costly for companies to bring on the technology specialists to be able to manage these sites because there’s an enormous amount of training that has to happen—not only in server, software, and operating system technology, but also in extremely important areas like security.”

Like any business, healthcare facilities occasionally find themselves understaffed. Unlike many other types of businesses, medical attention often can not be postponed until a trained practitioner is available to provide the necessary care. To ensure that the appropriate medical professionals are on staff regardless of whether all of the permanent employees are on duty, many organizations use the services of the Medical Staffing Network, which opened a new office at 5980 Stoneridge Drive in December of 2002.

Medical Staffing Network, established in 1998, is one of the largest healthcare staffing companies in the U.S. and has more than 180 corporate-owned branch offices throughout the country. MSN provides per diem and travel staffing in nursing, allied health, and advanced practice specialties. “We provide temporary staffing to hospitals, convalescent homes, and anyone with a medical staffing need,” says Marsha Hughes, branch manager for the Pleasanton office of Medical Staffing Network. “We represent the services of registered nurses, licensed vocational nurses, certified nursing assistants, phlebotomists, laboratory technicians, nurse anesthetists, and a variety of other medical professionals.”

Medical Staffing Network’s new office in Pleasanton represents some 200 medical professionals, and its clients include Kaiser Walnut Creek, Kaiser Oakland, Children’s Hospital of Oakland, and the San Ramon Regional Medical Center. Headquartered in Boca Raton Florida, MSN has offices in all 50 states, including local offices in San Jose, San Francisco, and Sacramento.

Through its proven business-to-business solutions, MSN supports clients with access to the credentials of its healthcare professionals. MSN’s services also include staff utilization reports, weekly financial reporting covering invoices and data trends, and real-time financial management of payments.

MSN assures that all of the professionals it provides to medical facilities are competent and have the appropriate credentials via its own independent verification process. “All of our people are background checked to make sure that they are current on federal and state requirements for working in a medical facility,” Hughes says.

MSN provides around-the-clock staffing coverage, and is known for placing top-quality nurses and health professionals.

“The nurses and other staff that contract with us generally come to us by word of mouth,” Hughes says. “We have an excellent reputation among the medical community.”

The organization will contract to arrange, coordinate and manage supplemental staffing services from its own offices or, through an on-site partnership, can establish a location within its client’s facility to serve as an exclusive staffing coordinator.

If your local medical care provider finds itself in need of temporary help, rest assured that your health is in good hands if they use the services of the Medical Staffing Network.
