Pitney Bowes, the world’s leading provider of integrated mail and document management systems, services, and solutions, recently opened a 7,000 square foot facility in Hacienda. The new space will act as a sales and service office for the company’s global mailing systems group and will include accommodations for the company to demonstrate its products. Approximately 70 people will be employed at the new site.

“The global mailing systems group’s product line includes mail creation products and anything that handles messaging,” says Ernest “Chuck” Jackson, director of Pitney Bowes’ East Bay Region. “We offer computer systems, logistics products, folding and inserting products, mailing products, and products that address hygiene. We basically address anything that handles paper.” Pitney Bowes’ global mailing systems group has approximately 73 district offices and 25 to 30 sub-offices in the U.S.

Pitney Bowes is a $5 billion company that helps organizations manage their mail and document flow in physical, digital, and other formats. Its solutions range from addressing software and metering systems to print stream management, electronic bill presentment, and presort mail services. The company’s 80-plus years of technological development have produced many innovations in the mailing industry, and it is consistently on the Intellectual Property Owner’s list of top U.S. patent holders. With approximately 35,000 employees worldwide, Pitney Bowes serves more than two million businesses. In this region, Pitney Bowes serves customers ranging from small one-person offices and home business to larger well-known companies like Chevron, Safeway, and Cisco Systems.

Jackson cites Pitney Bowes’ long history of innovation and service as a key reason for the company’s success. “Pitney Bowes is a great company across the board,” he says. “We’ve been around for a long time, we’re stable, and we have corporate locations all across the U.S., so our customers don’t have to work with independent dealerships who offer our products. If you purchase a product from us, it will be the same here as it will be in Lubbock, Texas or New York City and the pricing, service, quality, and products will all be the same. We offer a full cadre of benefits and services for financing our products. We have a full-service team who are electronically monitored and tracked so that we can tell our customers what their service response has been over a given time period. In addition, we spend more on research and development every year than all of our competitors combined.”

Pitney Bowes’ new Pleasanton office will serve customers in Alameda County, Contra Costa County, and every place north of the Golden Gate Bridge up to Crescent City. “We realized that our customer base was moving more toward the 680 corridor and we wanted to be closer to them,” Jackson says. “We looked at a lot of different areas like Walnut Creek and San Ramon but Hacienda was more practical and easier to get to for our customers. Being here will allow us to be much more accessible.”

Matrix Technologies, Inc., a voice and data technology integrator providing customized communication solutions, recently expanded their West Coast presence with the addition of a 4,500 square foot office at 4309 Hacienda Drive, Suite 550 in Hacienda. Matrix is an authorized reseller and integrator for many of the leading technology manufacturers, such as Avaya, Cisco, Enterasys, Microsoft and Extreme Networks. The company’s areas of expertise include data and voice networks, IP Telephony, unified messaging, CRM, IVR, contact center technologies, security and wireless networks. With its new Pleasanton location, Matrix will be able to offer its California customers best-in-class telecommunication systems, data networks and contact center solutions that work across all telephony platforms.

For example, Matrix offers traditional business phone systems with voice mail and automated attendant features. In addition, Matrix offers leading edge IP Telephony systems that work over the same voice and data telephone lines, saving both time and technical resources for businesses of all sizes. IP Telephony enables new applications such as unified messaging to the desktop computer, allowing voice mail, e-mail and faxes to be integrated into an e-mail program such as Microsoft Outlook. Employees can check voice mail and e-mail from their computer, phone or cell phone.

Matrix president Jarrod Sipe points to an increased level of customer service as an important goal for the new office.

“A primary reason we decided to open our new Pleasanton office was to better serve our existing customers and join the thriving business community in this area. Access is important to many of our customers who choose Matrix as their single-point-of-contact for their technology needs, regardless of their existing communication platform,” Sipe says.

Of course, the company relies as well on its substantial expertise and product selection as well.

“We pride ourselves on providing customers with communication solutions and call centers that enhance their operating performance while also improving the customer experience,” says Sipe. “It is Matrix’s expertise in a multi-vendor modular environment that has allowed us to help our business customers implement customized solutions that meet their respective needs and protect their capital investments by implementing architectures that enable growth and scalability at a pace dictated by the customer.”

The office, located in the Hacienda Terrace complex, is managed by Marty Koblis, an experienced IP telephony executive. “The office is centrally located and provides easy access to almost any location in the San Francisco area,” he says. “We are pleased with our Pleasanton location, and we have enjoyed meeting many new people since our move. We can offer customers great service from a central point, saving time and money for both.”

Matrix was founded in 1999 and has additional offices in Washington, DC; San Francisco; Tampa; Herndon and Richmond, Va.; and Baltimore. Matrix offers its services to small to mid-sized companies as well as the enterprise market space and federal and state government agencies.
