Each year Hacienda supports the Alameda County Community Food Bank in their effort to develop resources for programs conducted throughout the year. As a participant in the Holiday Food Drive, your donations go a long way towards helping the Food Bank meet their mission in Alameda County. Locally, a number of Tri-Valley operations are recipients of food and money collected by the Food Bank.

2008 Holiday Food Drive
Hacienda would like to encourage you to support the annual Alameda County Community Food Bank Holiday Food Drive.  During last years Holiday Food Drive, Hacienda collected food which provided thousands of meals for the needy. This year Hacienda is working with the food bank to help them continue to serve the 40,000 people in need every week. You can make a difference in the community by collecting non-perishable food or making a financial donation to support the Food Bank's hunger relief and advocacy efforts. The Food Bank relies on the support of local businesses, schools, service organizations and community members to assist those in need.

Food for Thought
The Food Bank's collection effort focuses on healthy non-perishable food. The Food Bank would also appreciate it if you would refrain from donating items in glass containers. The Food Bank particularly encourages contributions of the following:

Canned meats and fish
Canned fruits and vegetables
Pasta and tomato sauce
Peanut butter
Beans and rice
Powdered milk
Nutritional beverages

There are many ways to donate and help with this years effort. Because of the need to use their resources efficiently, only select locations within Hacienda will have barrels this year. The Hacienda Owners Association has a list of barrel locations within the park or you can call the Association for a donation pick-up, provided the donation can be received within the park. If you would prefer, the Food Bank also has a virtual food drive where they will do the shopping! You can see their purchasing power at work, where a $1 donation can buy $7 worth of food. The virtual food drive can be found at: https://www.vfd-accfb.org/home.aspx. You can also donate time at the Food Bank by screening and sorting food. If you would prefer to donate money, checks may be made payable to the "Alameda County Community Food Bank". Please mail all checks to the Alameda County Community Food Bank using the contact information below with the note "Attention: Development Department" on the envelope.  Online donations are also accepted on the Food Bank's web site at: https://secure.groundspring.org/dn/index.php?aid=18069.
