Hacienda Restaurants Cater to Every Taste

With more than two dozen restaurants, delis, cafes, and fast food outlets, the selection of eating establishments in Hacienda is plentiful. You'll find food for every palate and taste including Indian, Mexican, Mediterranean, Chinese, Japanese, American, and Italian. Many places offer special children's meals or menus. For your party or company event there is a selection of catering. When you are in a hurry, take out food is available from all the places listed. Be sure to call ahead to place your order. So, now, let's eat!
Amelia's Deli /Bistro & Express Take-Out, 4825 Hopyard Road #2, Bistro, M-F 6:30-5, 10-3 Sat.; Express 10-3 M-F, (925) 734-8444, $4.75-$7.25. Everything in this eclectic lineup of gourmet food is made from scratch on the premises. At breakfast, Amelia's offers bagels, house-baked scones, muffins, rolls and sweet breads, along with specialty coffees and other beverages. For lunch, gourmet salads include taboulleh and curried turkey, a variety of deli sandwiches, soup and sandwich or salad combos, and house specialty sandwiches. Catering, party trays, and restaurant rental for special parties are available.
Arby's, 5900 Owens Drive, 10-10 M-Sat., 10-9 Sun., (925) 467-1912, $1.50-$5. Arby's offers roast beef specialty sandwiches, subs, a light menu, chicken sandwiches, curly and home style fries, sides of mozzarella sticks, jalapeno bites and onion petals, desserts, beverages, and an Adventure Meal for kids. Drive-through is available.
Big Apple Bagels, 4555 Hopyard Road #13, 5:30-4 M-F, 6:30-3 Sat., 6:30-2 Sun., (925) 460-3737, $3.95-$5.95. Big Apple Bagels serves breakfast with bagels, coffee cakes, pastries and specialty coffees. For lunch there are fresh sandwiches, soups, deli subs or you can build-your own sandwich. Add chips, salads, bagels and you have a great meal. Big Apple has party platters including the Deli Express, a "build your own" custom platter, Bit O' Bagel, and fruit, nut and chocolate bagels with cream cheese.
Borders Books - Music - Cafe, 4575 Rosewood Drive, 9 to 11 M-Sat., 9 to 9 Sun., (925) 227-1412, $4.25 - $7.25. Borders' cheerful cafe serves hearty sandwiches, veggie burgers, hot dogs, and pasta salad along with pastries, cookies, bagels, soups, specialty coffees, and drinks. Kids will like the Explorer Meal, complete with crayons and a coloring book.
Carl's Jr., 4555 Hopyard Road #25, 7-9 M-F, 9:30-10 Sat., 10-6 Sun., (925) 460-8050, $2.50-$4. For food while you're on the go, Carl's Jr., has hamburgers, cheeseburgers, sandwiches, salads, fries, baked potatoes, onion rings, chicken sandwiches, desserts, a salad bar, and kid's meals. Breakfast is served each day. Fax orders accepted at 460-8050. Eat in or take out.
The Cheese Steak Shop, 4825 Hopyard Road #20, 11-8 Mon., Tues., Wed., Sat., 11-9 Fri., closed Sun., (925) 734-0293. The Cheese Steak Shop offers their specialty with steak by Steak-Eze, the original breakaway steak. You can select from Philly cheese, pizza cheese, plain, barbecue cheese, chili pepper cheese, bacon cheese, and more. Choose from eight chicken and cheese sandwiches or try the Hoagies, Italian, ham and cheese, salami, cappicola and layered cheese. There are vegetarian and ham sandwiches along with sides and drinks.
Chevy's Fresh Mex, 5877 Owens Drive, 11-10 Sun-Th, 11-11 Fri. and Sat., (925) 416-0451, $7.99-$14.99. Chevy's offers a full range of appetizers, big salads, quesadillas, burritos, flautas, and fajitas. Create your own combos with two or three favorites like enchiladas, tacos, chili relleno, or tamale. If you can't decide, try a Durango, Laredo or Super Chevy's entree. The Fresh Mex grill features baby back ribs and fresh fish. Try a plato gordo, a sizzling platter heaped with fine food for a group or party. There is a full bar.
Chili's Grill & Bar, and Chili's To Go & Fax, 4801 Hopyard Road, 11-10:30 M-Th, 11-11 Fri. & Sat., 11-10 Sun. (925) 734-0911, $5.49-$13.99 per person. Begin with Chili's starters like lettuce wraps, egg rolls and fried cheese. For dinner, there are steaks, rib eye beef, grilled chicken, shrimp, ribs and fajitas, or a big Chili's salad. Try the tacos, pasta, quesadillas, pitas, soups, sandwiches, burgers, or the Guiltless Grill. Pick up printed order forms to fax. Chili's caters with delivery and on-site grill.
Courtyard Cafe, 5059 Hopyard Rd., 6-10:30 a.m. M-F, 7-11:30 a.m. Sat. and Sun., (925) 463-1414, $7.95 per person. The Courtyard Cafe offers a full buffet breakfast every morning featuring omelettes, bacon, sausage, fruit, toast, juices, beverages and more. If you would prefer something else, the chef is ready to custom make your order.
Faz Restaurant & Catering, 5121 Hopyard Road, 6-10 M-F, 7-10 Sat.,10:30-10 Sun. (925) 460-0444. Breakfast buffet $7.95, lunch from $6.95-$22.95, dinner from $8.95-$22.95. Faz offers fine dining in an elegant but relaxed setting. Menu items include appetizers such as mussels and calamari and stuffed pepper, salads, selections of pizza, pastas, brick-over roasted chicken, fresh fish, Black Angus steak, pork chops, smoked duck, and kabobs. Indulge in desserts like pecan torte, tiramisu, mud pie and house-made cheesecake. There is a full bar. Complete off-site catering packages and on-site facilities for weddings.
Food & Beverage, 5696 Stoneridge Drive, 6-9:30 M-Th, 6:30-10 F, 9-9 Sat., 10-8 Sun., (925) 463-2556, 50 cents and up. Food & Beverage is a full-service convenience store with ready-made sandwiches, desserts, sodas, candy, snacks, chips, and drinks.
Hasegawa Japanese Cuisine, 4855 Hopyard Road #6, 11:30-2 lunch M-F, 5:15-9 dinner M-Sun. (925) 734-0996. Hasegawa has a fine dining atmosphere with the only Japanese Tatami room (read: you take off your shoes) in the Tri-Valley. There is a well-stocked sushi bar and a menu with favorites like sukiyaki, tempura and chabu-chabu. Catering is available.
The Honey Baked Ham Company, 4555 Hopyard Road #1, 10-6 M-F, 10-5 Sat., closed Sun., (925) 734-9418, lunches $4.95-$6.00, platters from $24. The Honey Baked Ham deli cafe offers lunch with a full menu of sandwiches, desserts, coffee, and drinks. Special occasion platters feature turkey, cheese, braided sandwiches, hors d'oeuvres, nibblers, veggies, relish, fruit, and bread. A combo buffet with a 8 pound ham serves 15. Take home a MealDeal with ham, salad, cheese, and cheesecake, a turkey breast or BBQ rib combo for the family's dinner.
Hong Kong Express Restaurant, 4555 Hopyard Road #5. 11-8 M-Sat., closed Sun., (925) 734-8288, $5.25-$7.95. At Hong Kong Express you can choose from appetizers including pot stickers and prawns, wonton and hot and sour soup, and noodle and rice dishes, along with daily specials. There are 24 entrees to choose from that are served with appetizer, soup, fried rice, and vegetable.
Jamba Juice, 4555 Hopyard Road #17, 6:30-7:30 M-Th, 6:30-8 F, 7-8 Sat., 8-6 Sun., (925) 847-8525, $1.75-$4.25. Jamba means "to celebrate" and you can do that with juices and smoothies at Jamba Juice made from fresh strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, mangos, bananas, peaches and oranges. Add wheat grass and vitamins. There are snacks, breads and soups. Phone-in your pick-up order for a meeting or party. Jamba caters with their fare and made-to-order smoothies for your party or event.
Lyon's Restaurant, 4889 Hopyard Road, 6-12 Sun.-Th,, 24 hours Fri. and Sat., (925) 734-9135, $6.49-$17.49. Enjoy breakfast specialties, skillet breakfasts, combos, omelettes, and pancakes. For lunch, the offering includes sandwiches, burgers, salads, entrees and pasta. Add to this at dinner sizzling steak platters, prime rib, poultry, and seafood. Top off a meal with pie, cakes, and sundaes. There is wine, beer, tea, soda, coffee and shakes. Senior menus are available every day.
Madras North & South Indian Cuisine, 5681 Gibraltar Drive, 11-3 M-Sat, 5-9 M-Sat., closed Sun., (925) 225-9090, $8-$17. Madras North & South Indian Cuisine buffet features appetizers of eggplant, potato, spinach, and chili; rice pilaf dishes of vegetable, chicken, lamb and shrimp; vegetarian entrees, non-vegetarian entrees of chicken curry, ginger chicken, boneless lam in a spiced butter sauce, and more. There are Tandoori chicken dishes served with rice, sides and breads.
McDonald's, 4501 Rosewood Drive, inside Wal*Mart, 8-9 M-Sun., (925) 463-3503, $1-$5. Visit the Golden Arches and enjoy McDonald's famous fries, hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, breakfasts, shakes, beverages, desserts, and extra value meals. This is the place for Happy Meals for the kids.
Red Robin Gourmet Burgers & Spirits, 4503 Rosewood Drive, 11-10 Sun.-Th, 11-11 F-Sat., (925) 225-1755, $6.49-$11.99. Red Robin offers hamburgers including bacon, guacamole and mushroom. Entrees include fish and chips, fajitas, platters and rice bowls. Salads, pastas, soups and sandwiches round it out. For dessert, try mud pies, sundaes and cheesecake. The full bar has beer, wine and mixed drinks, non-alcoholic mocktails, along with appetizers.
Round Table Pizza, 4855 Hopyard Road #1, 11-10 Sun.-Th, 11-11:30 Fri. and Sat., (925) 847-0750 drive in and carry out; delivery 847-0752, $4.99-$24.74. At Round Table Pizza, you'll fine appetizers like garlic parmesan twists and buffalo wings, and Caesar, garden salads, and salad bar. Create your own pizza with veggies, meats, sauces and crusts or select specialty pizzas like King Arthur's Supreme, Western BBQ Chicken and Gourmet Veggie. You can pick up, have your order delivered, or eat on the premises. There are lunch pizza combos and Gourmet Club sandwiches. A banquet room is available for baseball, softball, soccer, basketball, and swim team events. Round Table caters for home or office.
ShBoom, 4825 Hopyard Road #4, 6 p.m. - 2 a.m., W-Sat., (925) 734-0666, $6 cover charge W-Th, $10 Fri. and Sat. includes dinner buffet. Go to ShBoom for an evening of fun and meet new people. You'll find 50s through 80s DJ music, dancing, theme nights and a full bar. ShBoom Classic Catering will cater for you "at your place or ours."
Starbucks, 4555 Hopyard Road #15, 5-8 M-F, 6-8 Sat., 6-7 Sun., (925) 468-0138, $1.65-$5.50. Starbucks offers Italian-style coffee with caffe latte, caffe mocha, espresso shots, drip-brewed coffee, Frappuccino blended beverage, Cappuccino, Cafe Americano, teas, and more. Condiment bar offers spices and sweeteners. Purchase whole bean coffees by the pound. Food includes muffins, scones, desserts, sandwiches, and salads.
Subway Sandwiches & Salads, 4555 Hopyard Road #23, 7-10 M-F, 7-6 Sun., (925) 460-0707, $3.75 and up. Subway offers its famous sandwiches in different sizes with fillings of ham, turkey, roast beef, chicken and club. Look for the low-fat selections. Try the 6" classic subs and deli-style sandwiches. There are wraps, salads, chips, cookies, desserts, specialty coffees, and drinks. Call ahead to order for a crowd.
Sugandh Indian Cuisine, 4515 Rosewood Drive #700, open 7 days a week with all-you-can-eat lunch buffet 11-3, and dinner from the menu from 5-10, (925) 469-0511, $6.99 lunch, $7.95-$20 dinner. Sugandh Indian Cuisine serves a variety of Northern India menu selections. Dishes include lamb, chicken, and vegetarian. There is wine, beer and sodas. Catering is available.
Sweet & Savory Cafe & Bake Shoppe, 5694 Stoneridge Drive, 6:30-4 M-F, (925) 847-2911, $4.25-$6.25. Sweet & Savory Cafe, which is expanding this month, serves breakfast and lunch and makes almost everything fresh on the premises. Try the breakfast burrito, fried egg sandwich and freshly-baked pastries. Lunch menu includes grilled sandwiches, soup, pizza, a sandwich selection from turkey, club, and roast beef to egg, tuna, and chicken salad. A full line of gourmet salads is available, as are half salads. Top off with dessert and beverage. The cafe offers full catering with appetizers, platters, entrees, desserts, breakfast and salads.
Sweet Tomatoes, 4501 Hopyard Road #1, 11-9 Sun.-Th, 11-10 Fr-Sat., (925) 463-9285, $6.69 lunch, $7.99 dinner. Sweet Tomatoes, a buffet restaurant, is known for its wide variety of fresh salads like tortellini with basil, Thai noodle, and turkey chutney pasta. Soups offered include tomato onion, turkey noodle, vegetable, and more. Enjoy hot chili, baked potatoes, pizza, muffins, hot pasta with sauces, fruits, desserts and beverages.

Taqueria El Balazo offers Mexican food such as tacos in singles or in platters, burritos with steak, pork and chicken, including chicken mole, super and vegetarian burritos, seafood enchiladas, salads, and platters, salads, nachos and sandwiches, entrees, and appetizers. There are side orders, drinks and a full child's menu. A full catering service is ready to serve you.
TCBY Yogurt, 4747 Hopyard Road #5, 11-9 M-Th, 11-10 Sat., Noon-9 Sun., (925) 847-8229, $1.50 and up. Cool off on hot summer days with cold treats from TCBY Yogurt including soft yogurt, ice cream, cakes, desserts, pies, smoothies, and shakes. Take home a half-gallon of hand-packed ice cream or a wonderful frozen dessert.
Una Mas Mexican Grill, 4501 Hopyard Road #2, 10-9:30 Mon-Sat, 11-9 Sun., (925) 460-5454, $3.99-$5.95. Una Mas offers burritos, dinner and lunch combos, tacos, quesadillas, soups and salads, sides, nachos, 5-layer dip and chips, beverages and a child's menu. No MSG or lard. A specialty is the mesquite roasted rotisserie chicken meal with rice, pinto, black or refried beans; salsa and corn tortillas. The giant four-foot burrito feeds 12-15 people. For a party, fiesta or corporate event, Una Mas caters and delivers.
