Oracle, the world's largest enterprise software company, has successfully completed its $10.6 billion acquisition of PeopleSoft and has begun incorporating the company into its operations around the globe. As a result of the integration, Oracle is now the largest tenant in the park and is moving forward as a part of the business community in Hacienda and Pleasanton.

“Oracle is looking forward to a long, successful relationship with Hacienda,” said Randy Smith, vice president of Real Estate and Facilities at Oracle. “As part of our increased presence in Pleasanton, we are committed to creating a partnership with the park and the city that will benefit our employees, their families, and the local community.”

Oracle's business helps its customers manage, use, share, and protect information. For nearly three decades, the company has provided the software and services that let organizations get the most up-to-date and accurate information from their business systems. The new combination of Oracle and PeopleSoft will allow the company to deliver more competitive offerings in the enterprise applications software market, while increasing innovation by providing a larger research and development budget.

At an event at its headquarters on January 18, the company outlined how the nearly 50,000-strong combined workforce of Oracle and PeopleSoft will provide innovation and support to 23,000 applications customers throughout the world. At the same event, Oracle CEO Larry Ellison and his top executives showcased the new application organization; product and global support plans; and discussed Oracle's market share strength, particularly in specific industries. Oracle executives provided details on the strategies and capabilities of the combined companies, and the speed at which Oracle has moved to support users of Oracle, PeopleSoft, and J.D. Edwards application software. Oracle, J.D. Edwards, and PeopleSoft are registered trademarks of Oracle Corporation and/or its affiliates.

Oracle has retained over 90 percent of PeopleSoft product development and product support staff. The PeopleSoft development team will work on finishing the development and deployment of version 8.9 of its product line and will also begin development of the next upgrade to its products. The PeopleSoft support teams, along with the Oracle support organization, will continue to support customers around the world.
