- Arroyo Video Solutions, Inc., creators of an innovative software infrastructure that powers on-demand television, demonstrated for the first time its comprehensive solution for distribution of television signals using Internet protocol (IPTV) at the TelcoTV Conference & Expo in San Diego on November 9-10.
Arroyo exhibited a number of products, among which were some industry firsts. They included a complete, easy to install, IPTV-based video on demand (VOD) solution, featuring Arroyo’s OnDemand product. This solution is also currently in trial with a major U.S. telecommunications operator.
"We’re excited to debut our end-to-end on-demand solution for IPTV with so many industry firsts—the highest performing, densest solutions for large markets, the most economical solutions for small markets and a range of advanced, revenue-generating services for both,” says Arroyo’s president and CEO Rick DeGabrielle.
- ZANTAZ, Inc., a company headquartered in Hacienda which specializes in Information Retention and Discovery Management (IRDM) solutions, has begun marketing an expanded data migration service designed to move and consolidate data from other email archiving and compliance products to the ZANTAZ archive. Customers who purchase this service will be able to quickly use ZANTAZ solutions either on-site in their own facilities or on ZANTAZ-hosted servers.
“Many companies are discovering that the archiving and compliance products that they purchased in the past aren’t fully meeting their needs, particularly when it comes to quickly and easily locating and retrieving data in response to discovery or compliance requests,” said Joe Romanowski, vice president of product strategy at ZANTAZ. “By offering a straightforward, cost-effective means of consolidating multiple archiving systems, we are meeting customer demand for a simple, centralized repository of data that’s easy to manage and search. We’re also making it easy for them to solve problems related to scalability and performance with our switching program.”
- The City of Pleasanton and the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce recognized several Hacienda businesses as part of their Community of Character campaign. The campaign, sponsored by the Pleasanton Unified School District, City of Pleasanton, Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce and a coalition of business, school, political and community leaders, emphasizes six character traits: compassion, honesty, integrity, respect, responsibility, and self-discipline. The companies receiving awards included:
- Sweet & Savory Cafe and Bake Shoppe, which was recognized for their key role in facilitating the Harvest Park Middle School eighth grade graduation;
- Windermere Properties of the East Bay, which saw 40 of its employees volunteer to paint, move furniture, clean, weed flower beds, and stamp books at Lockwood Elementary School and Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary in Oakland;
- Wells Fargo Bank – Hacienda Branch, which contributed $8,500 in matching funds to the Donlon Elementary School Hurricane Katrina fundraising drive, bringing the students’ total to an impressive $17,000; and
- Oracle Corporation, which contributed to the community in a number of ways. Oracle replaced the $250,000 computer lab at Foothill High School after it was destroyed in a fire. The company also recently donated $10,000 to Pleasanton Partnerships in Education. Oracle also matched employee contributions to aid victims of Hurricane Katrina and underwrote the City of Pleasanton’s “Pleasanton Give Hope” pasta feed so that all proceeds from that benefit could go directly to the American Red Cross. Oracle’s employees were also praised, as many of them are working with local non-profits such as Habitat for Humanity and Hope Hospice.
- Two Hacienda companies have teamed to create spectacular playhouses in a creative fundraiser for Mount Diablo Habitat for Humanity. Dahlin Group Architecture and Planning has designed two spectacular playhouses, one of which will be constructed by Standard Pacific Homes, which will be auctioned off at the first Playhouses for Habitat event at Blackhawk Plaza in Danville.
“Giving back to the community is extremely rewarding, particularly when it comes to providing housing for those who are unable to afford home ownership in this high-priced market,” said Doug Dahlin, Dahlin Group’s president. “We’re pleased to participate in this event and delighted to contribute our design services for two playhouses.” “The Compass Rose,” a Queen Anne Victorian playhouse constructed by The Olson Company and designed by a team led by Dahlin Group principal, Glen Simmons, features a charming loft with copper roof. Standard Pacific’s “The Enchanted Cottage,” a European cottage playhouse, overseen by Don Ruthroff, senior architect, is topped with a cupola and weather vane.
Both playhouses will be complete with furnished interiors and landscaping. The neighborhood of five playhouses are on display at Blackhawk Plaza until the live auction in the center rotunda scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 3.
