  • Oracle Named Leader in Data Integration

Oracle has been named a leader in the key trends of big data and cloud, according to the annual Gartner Magic Quadrant for Data Integration Tools report.

Oracle was also targeted as a leader in classic data integration capabilities and visions available in the market.

Gartner is the world's leading information technology research and advisory company. The company delivers the technology-related insight necessary for clients to make informed decisions.

“Data integration is central to enterprises' information infrastructure,” the Gartner report stated. “Enterprises pursuing the frictionless sharing of data are increasingly favoring technology tools that are flexible in regard to time-to-value demands, integration patterns, optimization for cost and delivery models and synergies with information and application infrastructures.”

More than 4,500 organizations spanning nearly every industry are using Oracle Data Integration to cost-effectively manage and create value from ever-growing streams of structured and unstructured data, and address emerging deployment styles. Oracle continues to invest in its Data Integration offerings to help customers expand their business.

  • Acquisition Positions Anixter to Grow Security Business

Anixter International Inc. is buying Tri-Ed, a leading independent distributor of security and low-voltage technology products, from Audax Group for $420 million.

“The acquisition of Tri-Ed is a strategic opportunity for Anixter and our security business, consistent with our vision to create a leading global security platform and to accelerate profitable revenue growth,” Bob Eck, Anixter president and CEO, said. “Through expanding our offering into highly complementary product lines, our customers will benefit from a broader set of products and solutions in the areas of video, access control, fire/life safety and intrusion detection. As well, the combination brings Anixter’s expertise in IP video surveillance to Tri-Ed’s customers.”

  • IntegenX’s DNA System the Standard in Arizona

IntegenX Inc., the market leader in rapid human DNA identification technology, has announced Arizona’s first statewide deployment of the RapidHIT System for real-time matching of DNA profiles.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety, like many state crime laboratories across the country, faces tight resource and budget constraints that limit the number of DNA samples they can collect and process in a reasonable time period. The solution is to use the RapidHIT System in conjunction with the SmallPond database software to store and search more than 350,000 DNA profiles.

The simplicity of the system and the database interface has enabled state officials to train law enforcement officers to take DNA samples to the instrument for processing and generate search results in hours rather than months. This puts law enforcement agencies squarely in control of which DNA cases need to be fast-tracked without impacting the important work being performed by laboratory personnel.

“The Arizona rapid DNA system can provide officers with investigative leads faster than ever before,” Vince Figarelli, Arizona’s crime lab superintendent, said. “In cases with appropriate samples, officers can perform the rapid DNA analysis and search the database in hopes of obtaining a preliminary identification of a suspect, rather than waiting weeks or months for laboratory results.”
