On November 27, 2012, the Pleasanton City Council approved a portion of a rate adjustment request from Pleasanton Garbage Service, Inc. The rate adjustment will result in a five percent rate increase for all commercial and residential customers effective January 1, 2013.

About the Increase
The rate increase covers increases in projected operating costs related to Pleasanton Garbage Service, Inc., refuse collection and recycling operations, including the Busch Road Transfer Station operations and a one percent increase to the City franchise fee. As part of the rate approval, the City Council authorized the City Manager to continue discussions with Pleasanton Garbage Service concerning outstanding rate and operations issues pertaining to the current franchise agreement, including implementation of Alameda County’s new mandatory commercial recycling law. A report on the progress of these discussions will be available within the next few months.
