TRANSIT, RIDESHARING AND BICYCLING SCORE BIG

Try it ... and you'll be glad you did! Take the Rideshare Thursdays pledge and you could score a pair of media passes to the Golden State Warriors' game on March 26. Commuters who contact the Regional Rideshare Program and pledge to try an alternative to driving alone before March 19, 2004 will be eligible to win two media passes to the Warriors' March 26 game against the Washington Wizards.

Commuting to A Front Row Seat

Get in the action by pledging to commute one day a week using transit, carpooling, vanpooling or bicycling. You can take a front row seat on your commute and win a great evening with the Golden State Warriors as they take on the Washington Wizards. This special package includes: media passes, pre-game meal, arena tour, reserved seats in the press section and post-game press conference access.

Rideshare Thursdays

Rideshare Thursdays is an ongoing campaign to encourage greater use of rideshare and alternative modes of transportation. Since beginning in October 2003, more than 2,600 individuals have made the Rideshare Thursdays pledge to carpool, vanpool, take transit or bicycle to work on Thursdays or at least one day a week. In addition to the Warriors' VIP package, individuals who pledge to try a new mode at least once a week before June 30, 2004 will be entered into a drawing to win prizes, including a Monterey weekend getaway for two, Peet's Coffee gift packs, Safeway gift cards and Timbuk2 bicycle messenger bags. Commuters make the Rideshare Thursdays pledge and are entered in the drawing by contacting the Regional Rideshare Program at www.511.org (click "Rideshare") or by calling 511. Rideshare Thursdays is supported by the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, RIDES for Bay Area Commuters, the Federal Highway Administration and county congestion management agencies.

Free WHEELS Pass

Making the Rideshare Thursdays pledge is easy since all Hacienda employees and residents are eligible for free WHEELS passes. In order to qualify for a pass you need to be either an employee within Hacienda or a resident within one of the following Hacienda residential communities: Archstone, Avila, Siena, Valencia, or Verona. Bus passes entitle the bearer to a free ride to and from work, or to and from home for residents, on all WHEELS lines. WHEELS buses connect the Tri-Valley area to locations throughout Hacienda. WHEELS buses also meet each incoming ACE and BART train during the peak commute hours to shuttle Hacienda employees to their businesses and residents to the respective stations. During off-peak commute hours, WHEELS DART service shuttles passengers to and from the BART station as well as other destinations in the WHEELS service area. WHEELS I-680 express bus service provides a direct link for people commuting between Hacienda and Pleasant Hill/Walnut Creek. Passes may be ordered at: www.hacienda.org/materials/materials_commute_pass.html.
