WHEELS to Expand Service Upon BART Opening

The long-awaited opening of the Hacienda BART station is nearly here. While dynamic testing continues, the station is virtually complete, with only landscaping yet to be finished.

With the expected mid-year opening close at hand, WHEELS, the transit service of the Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority, will be offering several new services to complement BART.

WHEELS will be taking over the BART Express bus service on April 1. "Nothing will change from the existing service except that it will be a WHEELS bus," says Merrie DuFrene, WHEELS' manager of marketing and public affairs. Existing Hacienda passes will be honored.

The current BART Express bus service between Hayward and Pleasanton will be discontinued when BART opens, but additional services will be introduced at that time.

WHEELS will have a bus meeting every incoming train during commute hours and will expand their routes within the park. Hacienda employees may use their free WHEELS passes on all WHEELS vehicles. To obtain a pass, call 734-6551 or order it online.
