"Get ConnectedStay Connected" is the theme for this year's Make a Difference Day, celebrated this year on Saturday, October 24.
Established several years ago as the "national day of doing good," this event involved hundreds of people last year in Pleasanton, from young school children to grandparents. Their collective good deeds received national publicity in the "USA Weekend" magazine insert in local newspapers.
The events of the day focus around the library on Bernal Avenue, where a variety of local groups will provide information on their projects from 1:00-4:00 p.m.
There are several projects proposed which require help from the business community. One seeks contributions of old laptop computers to create a "lending library" for students who don't have computers at home. Surplus office supplies are wanted as well.
Other ideas for contributions are welcome as well. For more information on "Make a Difference Day," contact Jerri Long of the Pleasanton Unified School District via e-mail or at (925) 426-4304.
