Hatch Mott MacDonald Brings Civil Engineering Expertise to High-Profile Projects

Transbay Transit Center in San Francisco, California High Speed Rail, seismic retrofit of Bay Area bridges - these are just a few of the high-profile projects that Hatch Mott MacDonald has won.

Hatch Mott MacDonald is an award-winning, full-service engineering consulting firm with an extensive record of accomplishments in fields such as rail and transit, highways and bridges, water and water resources, wastewater, tunnels, aviation and many more. The company is the subsidiary of world-renowned Mott MacDonald (United Kingdom) and Hatch Associates (Canada). With 1,620 staff and 44 offices in North America, including West Coast Headquarters at 3825 Hopyard Road, Suite 240 in Hacienda, the company has access to an international staff that provides the resources to take on large, complex projects.

"Hatch Mott MacDonald is a company on the move in the U.S. engineering and construction industry. Our focus is on delivering quality services and products to our clients and attracting the very best engineering, construction and management expertise to our organization," said Ervon R. Koenig, vice president and San Francisco area manager.

One notable project for residents of the Bay Area is the Transbay Transit Center in downtown San Francisco. This landmark project is designed to enhance transit service to the region by improving the bus and rail connectivity of six Bay area transit providers at one facility. Hatch Mott MacDonald is the program manager for the design, construction, testing and start-up of the $2 billion project, the largest transit-integrating, intermodal center west of New York City.

Another major project for Hatch Mott MacDonald is California's proposed 700-mile high speed rail that will extend from San Francisco/Oakland to San Diego. It will be the first of its kind in the United States and will connect existing rail, air and highway networks. Once funding for the project is secured, Hatch Mott MacDonald will provide engineering services on three sections of the system, comprising more than half of the 700-mile route.

In 2005, Caltrans implemented a statewide program to rebuild or seismically retrofit, its bridges. The Toll Bridge Seismic Retrofit (TBSR) program includes the retrofit of seven Bay Area bridges. Hatch Mott MacDonald is an equal partner in a joint venture team that provides assistance to the Bay Area Toll Authority (BATA) in the monitoring and oversight of the program, as well as providing valuable engineering analysis.

Hatch Mott MacDonald has served public and private clients in North America for more than 50 years and internationally for more than 100 years. The company is known for developing solutions that redefine best engineering practices and has the reputation for technical excellence and innovation on some of the world's most prominent and challenging projects.
