Civil Engineers Wood Rodgers Expand Area Presence with New Hacienda Offices

Wood Rodgers, a growing full-service civil engineering firm founded in 1997, has moved its Pleasanton location to an expanded space on Willow Road in Hacienda. The local staff, which has nearly quadrupled in size since first opening two years ago, currently numbers 12, with plans to expand to 30 or more employees in future years. Overall, the company employs 215 people in offices throughout Northern and Southern California as well as Nevada.

"Two years ago, we took our land development division out of Oakland and moved them to Pleasanton, in addition to bringing in some experienced key hires from the Tri-Valley market," says Paul Meuser, a principal in the firm and the manager of the Hacienda office. "We're aggressively growing - we're trying to add just the right people, one by one, to continue growing this great team, and in the end provide all of our Bay Area clients the same menu of services that we provide out of our Sacramento and Reno offices."

That list of services is already extensive. "We provide civil engineering, land planning, surveying, mapping and landscape architecture, and we work out of our Pleasanton office primarily servicing land developers and home builders," says Meuser. "We cover all of the disciplines needed to complete land development projects, and over our 17 years in existence we've learned how to work between offices, bringing in experts from different disciplines, whether they be in Sacramento, Reno, or Oakland, to combine their talents in projects that we're doing in the Bay Area."

Wood Rodgers' diverse areas of expertise are also reflected in their clients' projects. Currently, the firm is working on housing projects throughout the Bay Area, including Oakland, Fremont, Hayward and Milpitas, as well as large, master-planned communities such as a 220-acre site in Tracy with 1,200 homes, and a 430-acre site in Fairfield with 1,800 homes.

Despite the firm's ambitious growth targets, Meuser says that Wood Rodgers remains focused, above all, on quality. "Our office has grown steadily but carefully, we only have an A-team, and we want to keep it this way". "Our company philosophy has always been to hire the best people, provide them with all of the tools and support they need, and let them do their job". "We're proud of the gains that we've made over the past two years, but we'll always be looking for ways to improve".
