Jerry Lewis Telethon at Hacienda

The community room at Hacienda Business Park has been selected as the site for the Alameda County Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon Phone Center.

“The” Telethon is an annual fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and will feature dozens of top entertainers during the 21 and one half hour marathon telecast.

Broadcast live from Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, the show will be broadcast on Channel 2, KTVU-TV. The local show will be at the Oakland Hilton.

In addition to Hacienda hosting the phone banks for the county, there will also be activities and entertainment at the Chabot Center Parking lot from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Labor Day Monday, September 3rd.

Several bands, including Pleasanton’s own "Whiskey & Lace", will entertain the crowd while they enjoy the food and the activities. The Pleasanton Firefighters will be manning a Budweiser Beer and Bud Light booth, while nachos, hot dogs, soft drinks, candy and other snacks are sold.

All proceeds from the sale of food and drink will be donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, as will the money raised at the dunking booth. The dunkees will be some of Pleasanton’s most famous and infamous citizenry.

Strawberry Shortcake and the Care Bears are scheduled to appear, courtesy of American Greeting Cards. Also on hand will be Chuck E. Cheese, representing his famous parlor.

There will be a wheelchair obstacle course, a space building for kids to jump around in, and stagecoach rides for those who invite adventure.

The public is encouraged to attend the festivities. The more the merrier; all proceeds raised from this event will benefit MDA.

Business, groups, and individuals who are interested in becoming involved with this worthwhile project, please call the MDA office at 570-6166.
