U.S. Healthworks Becoming Concentra

The U.S. HealthWorks Medical Group at Hacienda will soon become Concentra. Concentra, a division of Select Medical, is a national health care company focused on improving the health of America's workforce, one patient at a time. Through its affiliated clinicians, the company provides occupational medicine, urgent care, physical therapy, and wellness services at hundreds of locations across the nation. Concentra also serves employers by providing a broad range of health services and operating more than 140 onsite medical facilities.

"We are excited to add U.S. HealthWorks' established practices to the Concentra organization, to further support and enhance the delivery of best-in-class occupational medicine and urgent care to communities and employer worksites nationwide," says Keith Newton, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Concentra. "This transaction presents a unique opportunity to bring together two leaders in our industry, resulting in accelerated advancements and enhanced clinical outcomes for patients and employers, ultimately setting a new standard for the support and delivery of occupational medicine."

Concentra has acquired all of the issued and outstanding shares of stock of U.S. HealthWorks from Dignity Health Holdings Company. Dignity Health owns a 20% equity interest in the combined entity holding Concentra and U.S. HealthWorks. Concentra is in the process of integrating U.S. HealthWorks, a leading national provider of occupational medicine services, into its portfolio of medical centers and employer worksite clinics, with the combination helping to strengthen the delivery of care through greater access and standardization of best practices, while also improving health and wellness services for employers and employees. The new organization will have more than 60 years of combined history in supporting and providing occupational medicine and will comprise more than 700 medical centers and employer worksite clinics in 44 states, delivering services to more than 44,000 patients each day.

The workers' compensation system is complicated, and it can be hard for employers to know what to do after a work injury. As an occupational medicine expert, Concentra can help employers resolve work injuries as quickly and easily as possible. Concentra provides great care and manages most of the paperwork so employers can focus on their businesses and their workers can focus on getting well. The U.S. HealthWorks Medical Group, which will become Concentra, began offering comprehensive occupational medicine services at its Hacienda location in September 2001. Its services include treatment of workplace injuries and illnesses, pre- and post-employment testings, instant drug and alcohol testings, return to work evaluations, physical examinations, and more.
