The Pleasanton Weekly, Tri-Valley Views, San Ramon Express and Danville Express is launching their inaugural 2012 Tri-Valley Heroes award program. The Tri-Valley Heroes will honor eight individuals or groups with the recognition they so richly deserve.

Who is A Hero?

Tri-Valley Heroes will recognize individuals, groups, or organizations that stand out because of their actions, integrity, or honor. That hero could be a firefighter who rescues a child from a burning house, the girl who is courageously battling leukemia, the business that allows its employees to mentor teens for an hour a week, or the neighborhood group that cleans up a creek. The stories behind two Heroes award recipients will be published each week beginning November 23 and concluding December 14. These honorees will be formally acknowledged at a reception in November.

A call is currently out for nominations. If you know a person, organization, or group deserving of recognition, complete the form at or answer the questions on the form in an email and submit it to the Pleasanton Weekly using the contact information below. The deadline for nominations is October 5th. Awards will be given in the following categories: Arts and Culture, Community Spirit, Courage, Environmental Stewardship, Innovation, Rising Star and Role Model. The Lifetime Achievement award will recognize an individual or group for contributions, leadership, enthusiasm, and tireless efforts on behalf of the community and neighbors.
