Zone 7 Water Agency, the local water wholesaler, has a special request for Tri-Valley water users. The California Department of Water Resources will soon be conducting essential maintenance on State Water Project facilities upstream from Zone 7. During a six-day maintenance period, water deliveries available to Zone 7 will be temporarily reduced. Zone 7 Water Agency encourages community members and businesses to temporarily reduce outdoor irrigation use during the State Water Project work. This maintenance is a routine part of operating California's statewide water infrastructure and is necessary for long-term reliability, in addition to being a proactive measure to preserve available supplies while critical infrastructure undergoes scheduled maintenance. 

State Water Project

From June 27th through July 2nd, the California Department of Water Resources will conduct essential maintenance on State Water Project facilities upstream from Zone 7. State Water Project dfeliveries constitute 70% of the local water supply. Water users are asked to help preserve available supplies for essential indoor use, emergency response and fire protection during the shutdown.

Requested Support

Specific requests are as follows. First, your assistance in minimizing outdoor irrigation and other discretionary water use at facilities wherever practicable between June 27th and July 2nd is requested. Second, your assistance in notifying colleagues and business partners to likewise limit their use is also appreciated. Specific consideration should be given to:

• turning off automatic irrigation systems;
• avoiding watering lawns and landscapes;
• refraining from washing vehicles;
• delaying swimming pool refills; and
• postponing other non-essential outdoor water uses.
