L’Academy Brings Language Immersion Program to Pleasanton

L'Academy Language Immersion Preschool is nurturing young learners through creativity, curiosity and meaningful learning experiences.

The facility offers full-time, year-round infant daycare, toddler care, preschool, and TK/Pre-K programs for children ages 6 months to 6 years of age.

Expanding to Pleasanton in April, L’Academy is among the newer Hacienda tenants located at 5729 Owens Drive.

“We chose Hacienda because we saw an opportunity to create a beautiful, welcoming space where children could learn, explore, and grow while becoming part of this warm and welcoming, close-knit community, where we offer Mandarin immersion and Spanish enrichment for Tri-Valley families starting as early as the infant age all the way through Pre-K,” said Selene Li, the head Regional Director of L’Academy Language Immersion Preschools.

L'Academy's Pleasanton Hacienda location is part of a larger organization with multiple bilingual preschool locations, currently over 20 across California – including four in the East Bay – and one in Cary, North Carolina.

“While each of our infant care and preschool locations has its own school community and day-to-day operations, we are connected through our shared educational philosophy, Mandarin and/or Spanish immersion program, and commitment to providing high-quality early childhood education,” Li said.

Depending on the location, L’Academy programs offer Mandarin and/or Spanish immersion, while all centers emphasize English language development and school readiness.

“We reassure families that learning another language will not cause their child to lose or fall behind in English or their home language. Instead, children can build on the language they already know while developing new language skills,” Li said.

L’Academy’s classrooms blend elements of Montessori, Reggio Emilia and play-based learning, offering children plenty of opportunities to learn through hands-on experiences, exploration, creativity and play.

“We also take the time to really get to know each child and family, so we can support each child based on who they are and how they learn,” Li said. “For many of our families, L’Academy becomes more than just a preschool. It becomes a community where families get to know one another, children grow alongside their friends, and everyone feels like they’re part of something special.”

In their language immersion program, children hear and use the language throughout their day through songs, stories, conversations, activities, routines and play. Li said the educators at L’Academy believe that the early years are ideal for children to develop strong cognitive and communication skills while becoming curious and comfortable with different languages and cultures.

“Children are most likely to learn a second language in the early years, which is part of why we start our language immersion and exposure as early as in our infant classrooms,” Li said.

What may appear to be ordinary play, is actually hands-on learning experience for L’Academy students. A child building with blocks may be developing mathematical and problem-solving skills, while a child participating in a group song may be developing language, memory, social skills and confidence.

L’Academy teachers regularly observe children and intentionally create experiences that support their development, according to Li.

“At L’Academy Pleasanton, we believe early childhood education is about much more than

Childcare,” Li said. “It’s about giving children a strong foundation for how they learn, communicate, build relationships and understand the world around them.”
