Hacienda is home to a new wellness clinic offering massage therapy that provides clients physical relief as well as a better understanding of their own body.
Seeker’s Clinical Bodywork opened in Pleasanton at 5980 Stoneridge Dr. Suite 105 in August. The clinic is a brand-new business venture for co-owners Tiffany Chen and Hubert Tai.
“We chose this location because it's central and iconic in the Tri-Valley. We also wanted to be a part of the existing health hub in the area,” the pair noted.
The company seeks to build a world where a resilient body and well-regulated nervous system is standard and their path begins with helping people feel good in their bodies, minds and spirits.
“Everyday we interact with all kinds of people - friends, family, and strangers. Some of those interactions are positive and meaningful, others are anything but. We believe that chronic pain and tension, physical discomfort, and dysregulated nervous systems all contribute significantly to these negative interactions,” Chen said.
As the lead therapist, Tai brings a refined, tactile sensitivity to soft tissue, reading the density and direction of tension to release it at its source in the myofascia, not just the surface, according to the clinic’s website.
“Your body is capable of healing itself. It just needs to feel safe first,” Chen noted.
Beyond physical relaxation, the goal at Seeker's Clinical Bodywork is to deepen clients' understanding of their bodies, uncover the root of their discomforts and dysfunctions and provide them with tangible solutions, such as movements or self-care techniques.
Chen shared an example of how the clinic helped a client who was recovering from hair transplant surgery and experienced difficulty keeping their eyes open due to swelling in their head.
“Our therapist, Hubert, performed manual lymphatic drainage of their face and neck, reducing the swelling drastically. The patient saw and felt a notable difference, and even felt more rested after the session. Hubert sent the patient home with a few techniques to continue encouraging lymphatic flow at home. This was especially helpful because the patient saw and felt immediate results, learned a bit about the lymphatic system, and went home with tools for continued relief.”
Tai’s training allows the clinic to offer Somassage, a technique developed by the Soma Institute of Structural Integration that supports “easeful upright posture”.
A Somassage session involves manipulation of the fascial system and client participation in the form of movement and breath to encourage release and integration. “It's a great way to refresh your body and posture, especially if you're feeling the toll of repetitive motion or long hours at a desk,” Chen noted.
To introduce themselves to the community, Seeker’s Clinical Bodywork is hosting an open house on November 13. In addition to refreshments, the event will feature a raffle of tailored bodywork sessions.
“Whether you work in tech, healthcare, or another industry, anyone can benefit from our services. Even if you’re already receiving treatment from a physical therapist or chiropractor, bodywork can synergize with your current regimen and expedite your healing journey,” Chen said.
She continued, “We believe it's critical to disrupt the daily patterns of work and life with dedicated time and space for restoration. And since we’re located nearby, we invite you to take a break and come check us out. We are currently offering Hacienda members 20% off their first session.”
