Roger Li has operated his successful dental practice in Pleasanton for more than two decades. When he needed more room to accommodate a steadily growing patient base, his thoughts turned to the convenience of Hacienda. He found the perfect spot in a 2,000-square-foot suite at 5980 Stoneridge Drive and moved in last fall.
A graduate of UCLA’s dental school—where his class was ranked number one in the country, based on the GPAs and test scores of entering students—Li delivers a wide range of general dentistry services to families and children. He is strongly committed to keeping up with new developments, as reflected by his expertise in cosmetic dentistry, implants, and Invisalign tooth alignment, in addition to the more traditional menu of fillings, crowns, dentures, and standard and deep cleanings.
In outfitting his new office Li displayed the same exacting attention to detail so essential to his rigorous profession. Efficiency and patient comfort are key ingredients for the dedicated practitioner, who balances his love for dentistry with his devotion to his family.
“I’ve been doing this for almost 26 years, so I knew exactly where my equipment should be, the height of the counters, the chair location, and where the light needs to be,” he remarks. “My assistants have been with me for a long time and are very familiar with the sequence of procedure steps, so all I have to do is hold out my hand to get the next tool I need.”
While he spent about six months on the office design, Li had been looking for a new location and collecting information on the latest technologies and amenities for more than three years. When he drew up the space layout he had everything measured to the inch before handing his plan over to the architect, who made only minor changes. During construction, the dentist visited the site three times a day to make sure things were being done in a way to optimize patient comfort and convenience.
“I would go there in the early morning before seeing patients, often slip out at lunch, and then hang out there after work. My contractor was a young rising star out of Redding, from a family of builders. He put in some amazing architectural features like curved walls and ceiling soffits. His work is outstanding.”
The new facility gave Li the chance to incorporate state-of-the-art equipment like digital x-rays, which deliver the lowest dose of radiation on the market while providing very clear images in just a few seconds. Patient chairs are illuminated by hand-activated LED lighting that eliminates the heat and glare generated by old-style halogen lights. Televisions with a choice of movies are installed in treatment room ceilings to entertain patients while they are flat on their backs undergoing a procedure.
Esthetics count, too. The treatment rooms have large windows affording pleasant outdoor views. From the double-door etched glass entrance to the electric fireplace in the reception area to the six-foot built-in fish tank that provides a soothing focal point along the hallway, he has succeeded in creating what many patients describe as an attractive, peaceful, and calming environment.
