Family Fun Film Series Opens with “E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial”
at the Bankhead Theater in June
LIVERMORE, CA – (April 16, 2018) – The Bankhead Theater will introduce the Family Fun Film Series this summer featuring three beloved films of the 1980s, “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial,” “The Princess Bride,” and “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” shown on the theater’s large screen.
The series opens June 20 with one of director Stephen Spielberg’s most groundbreaking films, “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.” The heartwarming story of a small and gentle alien left behind on Earth, whose rescue by a young boy jeopardizes both E.T. and his rescuer’s lives, won multiple awards and the hearts of fans worldwide. On July 25, the Bankhead will screen the swashbuckling tale of love and adventure, “The Princess Bride.” In the finest storytelling tradition, a young man sets off to rescue his one true love, encountering a zany cast of characters in the enchanted land of Florin, each of whom help or hinder the noble cause in their own way. The last film in the series, “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids,” the story of a scientific invention gone awry and the hilarious situations that result, will be shown on August 15.
The Family Fun Film Series is scheduled for Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm and concessions will be available in the lobby. Tickets are just $5 each and all attendees must have a ticket regardless of age. Tickets are on sale now through the Bankhead Theater ticket office at (925) 373-6800 or lvpac.org.
The Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center strives to offer family-oriented entertainment for all ages. All three movies in the Family Film Series are rated PG (Parental Guidance) by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA.) Parents know their children best and should make their own decision regarding appropriate content.
The new Film Series builds on the success of the Classic Film Musicals Series which was launched at the Bankhead Theater earlier this year with favorites from the Golden Age of film musicals, complete with newsreels and cartoons of the era. Only the award-winning classic “Singin’ in the Rain” with Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds (May 2) and “Shall We Dance” with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers (June 6) remain this season, but the Classic Film Musicals Series is scheduled to resume in September.
