LunaFish Concert Live at the Bankhead Theater

LIVERMORE, CA – (July 23, 2018) – A local favorite, Livermore-based band LunaFish will bring the authentic psychedelic rock music of the late 1960s and early 1970s to a special community concert in the Bankhead Theater on August 3, 2018. With their classic rock style and vocal harmonies, LunaFish reimagines music from what has been called the most innovative period of rock and roll, featuring top hits from such artists as Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Eric Clapton, and Jefferson Airplane. Together with friends and guest artists, LunaFish will treat audiences to a hot summer night of music at the Bankhead, filled with timeless rock hits. A community concert sponsored by Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center, all tickets for the “Psychedelic Summer” with LunaFish & Friends concert are just $20.

LunaFish is steered by founders Jeff Fish and Chris Gattuso-Fish. Even before they joined together, the two musicians were playing in separate projects. As LunaFish, they made their debut in 2008 at Livermore’s Tuesday Tunes outdoor concerts in the center of downtown. They were joined in their passion for the classic rock sound by fellow musicians Bill Ziegler on drums, Michael Fine on bass, and Don Bott on keyboards. Greg Sutton joined the band two years later and was a core member for seven years.

A group of long-time friends, Gattuso-Fish describes LunaFish as not just bandmates but family. They strive to be inclusive of everyone, wrapping their audiences up in that same sense of family and encouraging them to feel as if they are a part of the group whether they sing along, dance in their seats or just tap their toes. As Gattuso-Fish says, “Music is one of the few things that bring all sorts of people together for a unique experience of commonality and reminds us of our humanity and community.”

Tragically, Jeff Fish suffered a brain injury from a medical accident in 2011. Although he continues to improve and is learning to walk again, the injury affected his timing, balance and coordination, and he has not been able to play guitar since. The group rallied around him and guitarist Kurt Stahl stepped up and joined the line-up. He and Tom Rose, who recently joined the group, have become a formidable guitar duo. Fish continues to be the band’s leader, inspiration and principal motivator, creating set lists, suggesting arrangements, and providing invaluable, expert feedback. “Music has helped Jeff heal and persevere through the tough times of recovery, and we hope to help lift others with the music we play and the good times we provide,” added Gattuso-Fish.

Livermore is home to a wealth of talent from the prize-winning student musicians featured each spring by the Livermore-Amador Symphony, to world-renowned jazz vocalist Karen Marguth and more. Resident companies of the Bankhead Theater regularly showcase local musicians, singers, dancers and actors. “As the leading performing arts venue in the Tri-Valley, Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center is committed to supporting local groups and artists by putting them on stage and sharing their talents with the community,” said Executive Director Scott Kenison. “‘Psychedelic Summer’ is just the first of what we hope will become a series of community concerts celebrating all our local artists have to offer.”
