PLEASANTON, Calif. — Hacienda Helping Hands, Hacienda's community engagement initiative, is challenging businesses to make a difference in their community through participation in its annual fundraising campaign. Hacienda's owners, investors, businesses and other affiliates are joining in local efforts to address critical needs in the Tri-Valley.

Hacienda Helping Hands is seeking to grow its fund so that it can continue making grants to social profit organizations with missions to work in six key philanthropic areas: youth development and education, family strengthening, senior assistance, access to healthcare and healthy living, affordable housing and solutions to homelessness, and arts and culture. For over a decade, Hacienda Helping Hands has been able to distribute thousands of dollars to those committed to these causes. Past recipients include: Axis Community Health, Alameda County Community Food Bank, Senior Support Program of the Tri-Valley, Tri-Valley Anti-Poverty Collaborative, Open Heart Kitchen, La Familia, Tri-Valley Haven and many more.

"Through this initiative, our goal is to help make a difference by supporting organizations that are addressing important community needs," said James Paxson, Hacienda's General Manager. "During the year, Hacienda Helping Hands was able to support community initiatives in a variety of ways and two worthy projects with funding. Our hope is to continue to help provide this support through ongoing engagement with community organizations and additional development of our fund."

2019 saw Hacienda Helping Hands continuing its objectives. Here are a few of the key activities from this last year:

  • Hacienda Helping Hands awarded impact grants of $10,000 to Axis Community Health in support of their new dental clinic and $5,000 to the Assistance League of Amador Valley in support of their work with children in the Tri-Valley.

  • In partnership with Kaiser Permanente, the East Bay Community Foundation and the East Bay Leadership Council, Hacienda Helping Hands continued its participation in the Tri-Valley Anti-Poverty Collaborative whose recent work includes furthering poverty reduction in the Tri-Valley through initiatives around food security, health, education and housing.

  • Hacienda Helping Hands continued its over two decades old tradition of assisting the Alameda County Community Food Bank with its annual holiday food drive.

Hacienda has been fortunate to receive support from many in its community giving initiative. Companies such as Kaiser Permanente, Chamberlin Associates, Oracle, Roche Molecular Systems, 1st United Credit Union, Ellis Partners LLC, Colliers International and many more have been instrumental in making its past work a success and have helped its campaign to make substantive contributions to the Tri-Valley. The alliance formed between Hacienda's owners, investors, businesses and affiliates has been a powerful way of making a real difference. That difference directly translates into the vibrant quality of life that makes the Tri-Valley so attractive as a place to live and work.

Management of contributions to and donations from the Hacienda Helping Hands campaign are performed under the auspices of the East Bay Community Foundation (www.EBCF.org), one of the largest sources of philanthropic support for the East Bay.
