PLEASANTON, Calif. — Hacienda has once again been named one of the Best Workplaces for Commuters in 2021 for offering exceptional employee-provided commuter benefits that meet the National Standard of Excellence criteria. “Being designated a Best Workplace for Commuters is a notable accomplishment; to qualify, an employer must demonstrate its commitment to its employees by providing progressive commuter programs, like telework, discounted transit passes, bicycle-friendly amenities, and rideshare solutions,” said Julie Bond, Program Manager for Best Workplaces for Commuters. “Making this commitment has perks. By being recognized nationally as one of America’s leaders in helping employees commute smarter, these employers are able to recruit and retain talent, save on overhead costs, and work toward environmental sustainability goals.”
Hacienda has been repeatedly recognized under the Best Workplaces for Commuters program as a Best Site. Locations so designated must provide a suite of commuting benefits to a specific area and collection of businesses and, in Hacienda's case, residential communities as well. “We are honored to again be recognized under this national program as a 2021 Best Workplaces for Commuters Best Site,” noted James Paxson, Hacienda's general manager. “We continue to believe that we can make a fundamentally better place for people to work and live by being actively engaged in the provision of programs that make the journey between home and work easier, faster and more cost effective. As we start to emerge from the effects of the pandemic and the measures that have been implemented in response, what Hacienda does to improve the commutes of those who work and live in the development becomes more and more important. We will continue our efforts to broaden the offerings we make to retain the distinction bestowed in meeting the national standard of excellence promulgated under the Best Workplaces for Commuters program.”
The Best Workplaces for Commuters program offers designated organizations access to a range of support services to assess and promote non-driving commuting of employees, including organizational assessment and implementation tool-kits, web-based tools and webinars, staff training, and information exchange. “We are extremely proud about our progressive commuter benefit program that saves employees time, money and stress” said Julie Bond, Program Manager, Best Workplaces for Commuters. “Excellent commuter benefit programs may reward these companies not just with a national designation, but buoys workplace productivity, customer loyalty and brand recognition in an increasingly competitive marketplace.”
Guided by the conviction that transportation alternatives are essential to meeting the needs of today’s workforce, Hacienda has crafted one of the most comprehensive commute service programs available. The wide range of free and convenient offerings include access to local and inter-regional transit and shuttles with rail and bus amenities incorporated into the design of the development, incentives for new riders trying commute alternatives, preferential parking for rideshare and rideshare assistance, an emergency ride home, a library of commuting resources, pedestrian and biking facilities, and centralized commute information services. More than a recognition program, Best Workplaces for Commuters provides the necessary support needed to create and sustain an employer-provided commuter benefit program, including online assessment tools, case studies, tool-kits, webinars, and training. The Best Workplaces for Commuters program is managed by the Center for Urban Transportation Research at the University of South Florida with support from the Florida Department of Transportation.
