PLEASANTON, Calif. — Hacienda recently installed its annual salute to Flag Day and the Fourth of July on Monday, June 13, 2022. Now in its ninth year, the installation was once again conducted by long-standing Pleasanton business, T. Marshall Associates, Ltd., who has performed this work for Hacienda since its inception.

Each year, Hacienda mounts three-foot by five-foot flags from the lampposts along Hacienda Drive from I-580 to W. Las Positas Boulevard, and on Stoneridge Drive from Hopyard Road to Santa Rita Road. A total of 50 flags, one for each state, are installed just prior to Flag Day, June 14th, and proudly displayed through mid-July. Inspired by then-freshman and Pleasanton resident Amanda McKenzie in 2013, the idea for the flag display throughout Hacienda was a project developed as part of her Girl Scout Gold Award. Nine years later, Amanda McKenzie's Gold Award project remains a Hacienda tradition.

“Hacienda welcomes the ability to contribute to important Pleasanton traditions and displays. As a city, Pleasanton excels at reinforcing what it means to be a community and to come together at important times" notes James Paxson, Hacienda's general manager. "Flag Day and Independence Day are important points in the annual cycle of events marked in Pleasanton that offer chances to reflect on the importance of community spirit and values. We hope that our display, inspired by the community itself, will contribute toward that celebration."
