PLEASANTON, Calif. — Hacienda has begun 2022 on a note of cautious optimism. With the effects of the most recent surge in Covid-19 starting to diminish and a few new signs of activity occurring, occupancy has been increasing; albeit gradually. Two of the most impacted sectors, office and retail, have been seeing much more interest and some new leases. Other sectors related to laboratory use, light manufacturing and assembly, and logistics have been seeing considerable interest and have also been a key component of recent investment. Additional investment in Hacienda related to these areas is anticipated in the next few months. The park is the largest mixed-use development of its kind in Northern California.

“Overall absorption has increased slightly over the close of 2021. Slight improvements have been seen in both the Office and Flex sectors. Although Retail vacancy has remained unchanged during the last two months, we are expecting to see activity in this sector as well within the next quarter,” stated James Paxson, Hacienda's general manager. "Although the two Covid-19 surges that took place last year have created ongoing uncertainty about how and when the resumption of building occupancy will occur, the current health trends and guidance toward endemic adaptation will hopefully start to create a more stable environment that has a direct impact on utilization. This is particularly important for the office and retail sectors. That, coupled with the ongoing interest in biopharmaceutical, light manufacturing and logistics uses, will play important roles in what occurs over the next several months."
