    Hacienda's ProBusiness has formed a strategic alliance with Unicru which will create functionality between Unicru's Hiring Management System software and ProBusiness' outsourced payroll, HR, and benefits administration services. The companies have already deployed the new package at Garden Ridge, a Houston-based chain of home decor and crafts products stores. According to Kevin Rutherford, senior vice president of human resources at Garden Ridge, "The Unicru and ProBusiness partnership has helped reduce costs by streamlining the hiring process, automating the bulk of new hire paperwork, and has enabled my staff to focus on the company's strategic HR initiatives."

  • Individual Software

    Individual Software's Heritage Family Tree Deluxe received the best marks overall in Family Tree Magazine's Software Scorecard. The software, which was compared to eight other programs, was rated "excellent" for key genealogy tasks as data entry, source documentation, navigation, and family group sheets and pedigree charts. The Hacienda company's product also features Web Collaboration, an industry first, which enables multiple family researchers in remote locations to edit the same family file in real time.

    divine, inc., has been recognized by the Boston/Northern New England Chapter of the Society for Technical Communication for excellence in the production of content management "start-up" cards. The cards represent a breakthrough in technical communication for the software industry by providing easy-to-use reference cards that answer frequently asked questions and help users build an effective Web site quickly with divine's content management solutions. divine received honors in both the art and publication categories, including the 2002 Most Distinguished Technical Publication award, for a series of start-up cards for divine Participant Server.

  • Standard Pacific Corp.

    For the third year in a row, Forbes has selected Standard Pacific Corp. for its annual Platinum 400 list of public companies, designating it as one of "the best big companies in America." "In another daunting year for business, these Forbes 400 Platinum companies - all with revenues of more than $1 billion - showed the resilience to rise above their peers," the magazine wrote. "To create this prestigious list, we looked across 23 industry groups and found big companies with the best aggregate scores for both long- and short- term financial returns, plus other performance and valuation measures."

  • ValleyCare Health Library and Ryan Comer Cancer Resource Center

    The ValleyCare Health Library and Ryan Comer Cancer Resource Center, located in Hacienda, has received $12,000 from a Community Benefit Fund, due largely to the work of Alameda County Supervisor Scott Haggerty. The $12,000, along with matching funds from the ValleyCare Foundation, will provide better electronic access to the Library's catalog of extensive health information including the titles of books, videos, medical journals, magazines, models, and posters.
