YOU CAN SPARE THE AIR

The Hacienda Owners Association is a proud supporter of the Bay Area Air Quality Management District's 2000 Spare the Air program. This important advisory alerts Bay Area residents about those days where their efforts to reduce air pollution can make a substantial difference in regional air quality. This year's program begins June 12th and runs until October 15th. Last year 1,200 Bay Area employers participated in this important air quality effort. These employers helped to educate and inform over 1,000,000 Bay Area employees about Spare the Air. The result: 146,000 vehicle trips and 6 tons of air pollution were eliminated on each Spare the Air Day!

2000 Spare the Air Resources

A number of resources are available to facilitate your participation in the Spare the Air program. The main component of the Spare the Air program is an advisory notice that can be e-mailed or faxed directly alerting participants that a Spare the Air day is going to occur. Spare the Air organizers are encouraging any person interested in the program to sign up individually. Registrants are automatically entered into a drawing for incredible prizes including vacation getaways, bicycles, software and more! New registrations are needed each year so previous participants will need to re-register to continue receiving notifications. Follow this link www.customersat.com/sparetheair/registration.html to receive e-mail notices directly:

Businesses are also encouraged to join the Spare the Air program to help provide comprehensive notification services and assistance to their employees. Again, even if an employer participated last year, completing a new registration form for the 2000 campaign will keep you enrolled in the program. Employer enrollment can be found at the following location: www.rides.org/sta/reg.html. A number of resources are available for employer participants as well. Reports, references, tool-kits and more are yours as part of the program. An employer toolkit may be found at at http://www.sparetheair.org/2000/toolbox.htm. You may also order free materials, such as brochures, posters, and incentive items, to support your Spare the Air efforts at http://www.rides.org/sta/materials.html.
