Pleasanton Partnerships in Education (PPIE) are inviting local businesses and their employees to give back to the youth of the community by sharing career information with middle school students. By volunteering as a guest speaker at PPIE Foundation's Career Day events, you can educate students about your field and help foster important partnerships with the education community.

Desired Careers

Samples of careers PPIE is looking for are: business, marketing, finance, sales, technical writing, training/education, human resources, education, technology, automotive, cosmetology, trades, restaurants, and many others. These categories are flexible. If you have a career that is not listed which you would like to promote, please contact PPIE using the information below.

Being A Presenter

The event begins at approximately 8:15 am with a continental breakfast and orientation and ends at 12:30 pm. Speaker presentations are given during the 1, 2, 3, and 4 class periods. Guest speakers are encouraged to stay for a thank you luncheon. Presenters are asked to share the following information:

• Information about your occupation and skills

• What the education requirements are in your field

• How you started in your position and what are your goals

• How long you have been in the industry, what are the benefits and what are the drawbacks

• Describe specifically what it is you do, depict a typical day at work

• Explain the career potential in your field, opportunities for advancement, the need for this career in the future

• Bring a hands-on activity or demonstration relating to your occupation
