Each year Hacienda supports the Alameda County Community Food Bank in their effort to develop resources for programs conducted throughout the year. As a participant, your donations go a long way towards helping the Food Bank meet their mission in Alameda County. Locally, a number of Tri-Valley operations are recipients of food and money collected by the Food Bank.
During November and December, Hacienda would like to encourage you to support the annual Alameda County Community Food Bank Holiday Food Drive. Last year, the Holiday Food Drive collected 515,000 pounds of food, and Hacienda alone collected food which provided thousands of meals for the needy. This year the Food Bank hopes to collect 550,000 pounds of food. You can make a difference in the community by collecting non-perishable food or making a financial donation to support the Food Bank's hunger relief and advocacy efforts. The Food Bank relies on the support of local businesses, schools, service organizations and community members to assist those in need.
The Food Bank's collection effort focuses on healthy non-perishable food. The Food Bank would also appreciate it if you would refrain from donating items in glass containers. The Food Bank particularly encourages contributions of the following:
Canned meats and fish
Canned fruits and vegetables
Pasta and tomato sauce
Peanut butter
Beans and rice
Cereal/oatmeal
Powdered milk
Nutritional beverages
Your company can sign up to have a collection barrel delivered to your office or Hacienda businesses may also contact the Hacienda Owners Association for a donation pick-up provided the donation can be received within the park. You can also donate time at the Food Bank by screening and sorting food during the week and on selected weekend days. If you would prefer to donate money, checks may be made payable to the "Alameda County Community Food Bank" and should note "Hacienda" somewhere on the check. Please mail all checks to the Alameda County Community Food Bank using the contact information below with the note "Attention: Food Drive" on the envelope. Donations are also accepted online at the Food Bank's web site at: www.secure.entango.com/donate/pnH59Bg7qps.
Additional information is available on the food drive, local collection points, organizations benefiting from the collection effort, and ideas on how to provide incentives to companies and individuals to participate. Please feel free to contact the Alameda County Community Food Bank using the contact information below for details.
