12th ANNUAL WHEELS OF THUNDER

The Northern California Spoke of the International Christian Cycling Club will be hosting a series of bike races on Saturday June 5, 2004 in Hacienda on selected streets. This all day event is one of Northern California's premier bicycle races.

Event Description

The Wheels of Thunder-12th Annual Criterium is a .9 mile, clockwise, flat, fast loop with four right hand turns. The event begins at the Saratoga Center located at 5934 Gibraltar Drive, on the corner of Willow Road and Gibraltar Drive. Racers start at Willow Road and Gibraltar Drive and follow Gibraltar Drive to Hacienda Drive to Stoneridge Drive and back to Willow Road. The event will use the free lap rule, no neutral support. During many of the day's races, riders will compete for mid-race prizes. Cyclists need to be licensed, and USCF licenses will be available at registration. Race information follows:

Registration and Information

Registration opens at 7:00 am and closes 20 minutes prior to each race. For race information and fees contact Darryl Smith at (925) 462-2626. Please make checks payable to ICCC and mail with USA Cycling release to Kelly McIntosh at Wheels of Thunder using the information found below.

Street Closure

The Criterium format dictates closure of a small number of Hacienda streets. Traffic will be monitored by the race hosts, and access will be allowed to all buildings to insure minimal inconvenience.
