Come join Pleasanton's leading technology companies at the Pleasanton Technology Marketplace, Tuesday, October 23, 11:00 am to 7:00 pm at the Alameda County Fairgrounds' Satellite Wagering Facility. This annual interactive marketplace was designed specifically for Tri-Valley technology companies, and will give you the opportunity to see the leading local companies and their products, learn about the latest technology trends, and meet one-on-one with experts on your most pressing business issues. The Marketplace will focus on the many ways that technology improves productivity-in business, personal lives, and in the classroom.

  • 12:20-1:00 Personal Productivity-Getting a Bigger Bang for Your Byte Panel Moderator: George Beardsley, Performance Systems. Do you do more work or less work today than you did 5 years ago? No doubt your personal productivity index has risen. Credit technology for making that possible. But productivity gains have actually been small compared to the potential. This panel discusses barriers that have kept productivity from making a quantum leap. Panelists will also share tips on integrating your task-list into the way you really work.

  • 1:00 - 1:30 The Key to Economic Growth...Productivity  Keynote Speaker: Jeff Miller, Chairman of the Board, Documentum. The key to economic growth is productivity - providing customers with more at a lower cost. Miller will discuss the latest technological business practices that can transform a company's bottom line.

  • 1:40 - 3:00 Traffic, Technology and Productivity   Moderated by Gail Gilpin, Economic Development Director, City of Pleasanton. There is no bigger impact on the productivity curve than gridlock. Longer commutes mean employees arrive on the job feeling as if they have already put in a day's work. The cost of delivering goods skyrockets during peak commute hours. Panelists discuss ridesharing, public transit, the highway system and how technology is being used to make them better. Panelists: Steve Heminger, Executive Director, Metropolitan Transportation Commission, Catherine Wasikowski - Executive Director, RIDES for Bay Area Commuters, Vic Sood - General Manger, WHEELS.

  • 3:10 - 4:20 Readin', 'Ritin', 'Rithmetic and RAM   Long-term productivity starts in the classroom. Tomorrow's employees should be learning how to use computer technology in schools. But it's much more than learning to surf the Web, it's also evaluating the quality of the information accessed via the Internet. This panel explores the state of technology in our schools. How do we define literacy in the 21st Century? What happens when schools are wired? Are teachers trained to train our kids? Is computer technology woven into the curriculum? Panelists: Howard Besser, Professor, UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Sciences; Eric Thiel, Teacher, Amador High School Jim Negri - Pleasanton Unified School District; Linda Uhrenholt, former teacher and Education Advocate, Pacific Bell.

  • 4:20 - 5:30 Mega-Productivity - Tools and Techniques You Can Use   Panel Moderator: George Beardsley. Date-book software is on virtually every computer in the Tri-Valley, but most of us use only 1% of its power. This session covers real-life scenarios and demonstrates practical uses of technology to increase your personal productivity and get the competitive edge.

  • 5:00 - Close Oktoberfest   Attendees can network with exhibitors, and enjoy food and beverages served by Gold Level exhibitors at the Oktoberfest, which begins at 5:00 and concludes at the close of the show.

  • 5:30-6:30 CEO Roundtable: Creating a Productive Environment   Moderator: Deborah Acosta-McKeehan, City Manager, Pleasanton. The Tri-Valley's top CEOs discuss technology and the critical need for productivity gains to stay competitive. They discuss the challenge of recruiting qualified employees, the need for training and the need for the private sector to invest in lifelong learning.
