Each year during the holidays Hacienda participates in a special Business Park Food Drive to help the Alameda County Community Food Bank in its work. In addition to these holiday drives, the Food Bank conducts a number of other drives during the year. Your assistance this summer will greatly help in the Safeway/ABC 7 Summer Food Drive running from June 16th through August 31st.

Food for Thought

Approximately 43% of the people served by the food bank in Alameda County are children under the age of 18. When school ends for the summer, these students lose access to school breakfast and lunch programs which they rely upon to meet their nutritional needs. This increases their need for food at a time when the food supply of the Alameda County Community Food Bank is low.

Summer Food Drive

The Safeway/ABC 7 Summer Food Drive began on June 16 and will continue through August 31. The Pleasanton Safeway will be hosting a special annual televised event on July 17th in their parking lot located on the corner of Santa Rita Road and Valley Avenue. Food will be collected at this fun filled event featuring local performers and giveaway items. After the event, there are many ways to continue the momentum and contribute towards the drive. Beginning in early July you can drop off a donation at a food barrel located in your local Safeway store. Other simple ways to contribute include: hosting a food drive collection barrel and encouraging employees and customers to donate nutritious food for children; hosting a fund drive by encouraging people to donate money to the Food Bank (the Food Bank can provide 21 nutritious lunches for only ten dollars); or organizing a volunteer group to donate time at the Food Bank.
