From Bureaucracy to Business Friendly

Companies interested in hiring and expanding their business are invited to attend the first "From Bureaucracy to Business Friendly" regional business event from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm on Tuesday, October 22nd at the Robert Livermore Community Center located at 4444 East Avenue in Livermore. The event is an opportunity for attendees to learn about available incentives and resources for hiring and business growth. The presentations will provide an overview of incentives including Tri-Valley initiatives to streamline the permit process and available city-based incentive programs offering sales tax reimbursement, high wage incentives, sewer financing and more. Participating businesses will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn from other businesses who have participated in the programs. East Bay EDA Annual Fall Membership Meeting

The East Bay EDA's Annual Fall Membership Meeting is being held on Wednesday, October 30th from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the California Center in Hacienda. Come meet the new EDA Officers and Committee Chairs and learn about the East Bay Broadband Consortium's regional work. Presentations will be provided by Kish Rajan, Director of the Governor's Office of Business & Economic Development (GO-BIZ) and Sunne McPeak, President & CEO of the California Emerging Technology Fund. East Bay EDA Hosts Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development

On Friday, November 1st from 12:30 pm to 5:00 pm, an informational meeting on the Governor's Economic Development Initiative is being held at the Hayward City Hall Council Chambers located at 777 B Street in Hayward. With the recent passage of Senate Bill 90 and Assembly Bill 93, also known as the Governor's Economic Development Initiative (GEDI), the Enterprise Zone program was replaced with three new tools for economic development in California. The tools include a targeted hiring credit, a sales and use tax exemption for manufacturing and R&D equipment purchases, and a new flexible tax credit for business attraction and expansion. This meeting includes an overview on the new tax credit as well as a look at what is next from GO-Biz. Attendees will also be able to find out how Health Care Reform will affect their business; learn how they can access wage subsidies and training monies for their employees; and connect with East Bay business resources during the networking session.
