9th ANNUAL PPIE VIRTUAL RUN FOR EDUCATION

Pleasanton Partnerships in Education Foundation (PPIE) is hosting a virtual race in lieu of their annual Pleasanton Run for Education. PPIE is a non-profit foundation dedicated to supporting Pleasanton public schools. PPIE raises funds to support critical programs and to fund projects enhancing educational excellence for all students. Their proceeds fund key supplemental staff at all Pleasanton schools from librarians and tech support, to support counselors and reading/math intervention specialists. For over 25 years, PPIE has worked to enhance education throughout the Pleasanton Unified School District through a partnership of business, education and community.

Virtual Run for Pleasanton Schools

PPIE is transforming their annual Run for Education into a Virtual Race that takes place where you are and when you want, anytime between April 11 and April 18, 2021. You do not even have to run anywhere! Walking, biking, swimming, yoga, or dance party, you choose the activity and track your fitness using a mobile app with the goal to collectively run/walk/dance/jump for a total of 7,750 miles; the distance of a community grand circle tour around the USA. Conversion charts are available to let you know the distance equivalent of a variety of activities. The easy-to-use app will enable you to create family or group teams, update your miles and upload photos. Participants will receive e-postcards from milestone cities you ‘visit’ along the way.

Registration

Registration is simple and anyone anywhere can take part. Registrants can participate outdoors but should follow social distancing requirements by maintaining at least a six-foot separation from other individuals. The entry fee is $20 for the Virtual Race or $25 for the Virtual Race + Run Shirt. To register for this innovative event please visit: https://runsignup.com/Race/CA/Pleasanton/PPIERun. Registration remains open through April 18.
