PLEASANTON PD THREAT ASSESSMENT WORKSHOP

The Pleasanton Police Department advises all agencies and organizations to have someone trained to conduct Behavioral Threat Assessments. Community members are invited to a special training to assist you and your business on this important topic. Training on how to assess and respond to threats before they materialize is imperative to ensure a safe environment for your business. The Pleasanton Police Department’s goal is to protect and maintain Pleasanton’s high quality of life and prevent crime in the City. The department is responsible for enhancing overall community safety and safeguarding the rights of individuals.

Training Program

A Behavioral Threat Assessment course seminar will be held on Monday, March 6th and Tuesday, March 7th, 2023 from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm at the Pleasanton Remillard Room located at 3333 Busch Road, Pleasanton. The course will be presented by Third Degree Communications (TDC), a company comprised of seasoned, working professionals who practice what they teach. TDC leaders provide comprehensive certified training programs designed to enhance the investigative skills of law enforcement, corrections, security, and executive protection personnel.  The Pleasanton Police Department and TDC invite you to attend a 16-hour (2 day) Behavioral Threat Assessments course lead by Sergent Glenn Albin who is a graduate of the P.O.S.T. Master Instructor Certification Course and has worked assignments in Field Training, Homicide, K9 and Undercover, and Internal Affairs.

Event Highlights

The Behavioral Threat Assessment (BTA) Course and Seminar will provide a learning environment which will highlight professional training on: Core Concepts of Behavioral Threat Assessment, Identifying Targeted Violence, Warning Behavior Characteristics, BTA Management Strategies, Threat Management Teams and Problem Solving. In this course, students will learn how to identify behaviors associated with targeted threat violence. Identifying pre-assaultive behaviors will allow students to create management strategies based on behavioral threat assessments. This will assist to limit targeted threat violence and mitigate risk factors. Behavioral Threat Assessment is a vital tool in predicting and stopping preventable crimes before they happen. Whether in the arena of active shooters, domestic violence, stalking, workplace violence, juvenile crimes or any number of violent crimes, this training will help students see the signs of what is coming before it is too late.
