BIKE TO WORK WEEK IS COMING

Bike-to-Work Week is coming with a number of activities to celebrate a refreshing alternative form of transportation. Here is your opportunity to participate in a fun-filled week in a variety of ways!

Event Details

Bike-to-Work Week, sponsored by RIDES for Bay Area Commuters, will be held from May 17 through May 21. A number of events and contests are scheduled to take place. Commuters who pledge to bike to work or school once during the week can have their names entered into a drawing for great prizes! Follow the link at the end of this message to register for Bike-to-Work events on-line. Entries must be received by May 25. Prizes to be awarded to Bike-to-Work Week registrants include: a trip for two on Southwest Airlines to anywhere they fly in the United States; a Samba Tandem by Burley; or bike gear from Bellwether, Kelly Bike, REI, Salsa, Specialized, Timbuk2, Voodoo and Zoic.

Energizer Station

Bike-to-Work Day is May 18. The Hacienda Owners Association, City of Pleasanton, Dublin Cyclery and BART will be hosting a Bike-to-Work Day Energizer Station at the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station (immediately outside the turnstile). The first 50 bicycle commuters to stop at the station will receive a special Bike-to-Work Day gift bag filled with complimentary gifts to honor your participation in this event. The station will also feature information on bicycle maintenance, safety and commuting.

Employer Competition

Bike-to-Work Week also features an annual Employer Competition for Bay Area employers in three size categories: fewer than 100 employees, 100 to 500 employees, and over 500 employees. The company in each category with the highest percentage of bike commuters will win a trophy. Employees registered for Bike-to-Work Week can commute by bicycle on any day the week of May 17-21 to be eligible to win prizes; they are then also included in the employer competition tallies. Again, entries must be received by May 25.
