BIKE TO WORK EVENTS

Hacienda is celebrating Bike-to-Work Week from May 14 to May 18. As part of the week long festivities, Bike-to-Work Day is Thursday, May 17th. Take the healthy commute and join thousands of Bay Area commuters as they bike to work or to transit.

Energizer Stations

On May 17, Energizer Stations will be set up all over the Bay Area to celebrate Bike-to-Work Day. Hacienda will participate in an Energizer Station at the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station co-sponsored by Hacienda, the City of Pleasanton, Dublin Cyclery and BART. The Energizer Station will be open between 7:00 am and 9:00 am in the plaza area just outside the turnstiles. The Dublin/Pleasanton BART station sits in the middle of Interstate 580 and is easily accessed by Owens Drive from Pleasanton and by Dublin Boulevard from Dublin. Hacienda cyclists who stop by will receive a free canvas tote bag, t-shirts, snacks and a free bike safety check courtesy of Dublin Cyclery.

Bike Safety Class

Learn to drive a bike with a free urban bike safety class. Classes will be held throughout the Bay Area. The local class is being held in Hacienda on Monday, May 14th from 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm at the CarrAmerica Conference Center located at 4400 Rosewood Drive. This 4 hour classroom course teaches street skills including the basics of safe cycling, riding in traffic, equipment, crash avoidance, rights and responsibility. A second day of instruction will consist of a 6 hour on-road course to practice what was taught in the street skills class. Bring your bike to the MTC conference room at 101 Eighth Street on Saturday, May 19th or to PerforceSoftware located at 2319 Clement in Alameda on Saturday, June 16th. For more information on the class or to sign-up, please contact Dave Campbell at dcampbel@lmi.net or at the Berkeley Bikestation (510) 548-7433.
