DONATIONS SOUGHT FOR 2010 HACIENDA FOOD DRIVE

For over a decade, Hacienda has partnered with the Alameda County Community Food Bank to raise much needed food and funds to help some of the most vulnerable members of our community. As a participant in the Holiday Food Drive, your donations go a long way towards helping the Food Bank meet their mission in Alameda County. Locally, a number of Tri-Valley operations are recipients of food and money collected by the Food Bank.

2010 Holiday Food Drive

Hacienda would like to encourage you to support the annual Alameda County Community Food Bank Holiday Food Drive. During last years Holiday Food Drive, Hacienda collected food which provided thousands of meals for the needy. The food bank has recently seen a dramatic increase in demand and this year Hacienda is working with the food bank to help them continue to feed the 49,000 people that depend on the services of the food bank weekly. You can help make a difference in the community by collecting non-perishable food or making a financial donation to support the Food Bank's hunger relief and advocacy efforts. The Food Bank relies on the support of local businesses, schools, service organizations and community members to assist those in need.

Food for Thought

The Food Bank's collection effort focuses on healthy non-perishable food. The Food Bank would also appreciate it if you would refrain from donating items in glass containers. The Food Bank particularly encourages contributions of the following:

  • Canned meats and fish

  • Canned fruits and vegetables

  • Canned soup (low sodium)

  • Pasta and tomato sauce

  • Peanut butter

  • Beans and rice

  • Cereal/oatmeal (low sugar)

  • Powdered milk

Donations

There are many ways to donate and help with this years effort. Because of the need to use their resources efficiently, only select locations within Hacienda will have barrels this year. If you are interested in hosting a barrel, please contact the Food Bank representative noted below. The Hacienda Owners Association has a list of barrel locations within the park or you can call the Association for a donation pick-up from anywhere within Hacienda. If you would prefer to donate money, checks may be made payable to the "Alameda County Community Food Bank" and mailed directly to the Food Bank using the contact information below. Online donations are also accepted on the Food Bank's web site at: secure.groundspring.org/dn/index.php?aid=18069.

Virtual Food Drive

The Food Bank also has a virtual food drive where you can donate and the Food Bank does the shopping! Watch your purchasing power at work as every $1 donated stretches into $5 worth of food. The virtual food drive can be found at: www.vfd-accfb.org/home.aspx.
