The City of Pleasanton's new commercial recycling program will soon begin for its commercial garbage customers. Pleasanton Garbage Service has announced that it will be sending commercial accounts information outlining its new voluntary single stream commercial recycling program scheduled to begin during March.

Commercial Recycling Program

Upon receipt of Pleasanton Garbage Service's information, each commercial account may request a 96-gallon cart for commingled dry recyclables including paper, cardboard, glass and aluminum. These carts will be collected in accordance with Pleasanton Garbage Service's collection schedule and will be distinctly marked to designate their use for recyclables. One recycling cart will be provided to each commercial account at no charge.

Additional Services and Changes

If a commercial account determines that additional capacity (more than 96-gallons) is required to meet its recycling needs, and/or for accounts with container or compactor services, Pleasanton Garbage Service is available to provide consultation regarding the most cost efficient cart and container capacity to meet service needs. Paper Gobbler

Pleasanton Garbage Service intends to eliminate the Paper Gobbler program at the time the new single stream program is implemented. However, at the request of program participants, Pleasanton Garbage Service will continue to collect existing Paper Gobbler carts, at no charge, provided they are placed in a suitable location outside the building accessible for automated pickup. Pleasanton Garbage Service is also available to provide consultation regarding placement of the Paper Gobbler carts. The free commercial cardboard collection program will continue as currently implemented.

New Commercial Refuse and Recycling Rates

Effective March 2011 new refuse collection rates will be in effect. Rates do not include container rentals or other miscellaneous charges. The new rate schedule is below.
